I read a blog, forget where but it talks about more changes Google is doing. Some of you may already know, but some may not.

Google is recording your search queries and all website you visit through cookies. This is effecting the way your site may perform in the search engines. If you search for your site and see page 1, someone in a different state may not recognize your site on page 1 therefore missing traffic.

Everytime you visit your site in search engines it will help but coming from your cookies. There is a chance that others wont see your site as high as you do.

    Login to your gmail account:
Click the My Account from google homepage
Click Edit next to 'My products.'
    Click Delete Web History.

If you are not signed in. Go to google and search anything. Then click web history in the top right and then click disable customization.

ya its really a pain when you are trying to check where your site ranks

but usually i just have to remmeber to sign out first.

does the above method mean i dont have to sign out anymore?

There is an easier way to permanently stop Google from collecting your web history.

    http://www.google.com/history/
    * if you get invalid page, I'm pretty sure it's cause you don't have Web History enabled.
    * after I turned it off that page stopped working.

Thanks for informing me about this!

Google has run a great business, and have developed very nice products. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

But I have major, major privacy concerns with them. Their motto is "Do No Evil", but we shall see how long that lasts.

See those ads in your gmail? Based on the contents of your messages. Even if you don't use gmail, everytime you send an email to a @gmail.com user, your mail is getting read and ads are being delivered based on this. It's only a matter of time before Big Brother steps in and uses this to profile all the "terrorists."

A short story of what could be:
Also, Google stores your messages forever. After 180 days, the contents of your email are no longer protected by the ECPA and can be obtained with a subpoena rather than a warrant. If you're just talking to mom or your buddies, perhaps its not anything to worry about.... but if you're paranoid like me, time to start using GPG and encrypt your mails :)

When I want to check my SERPs, I use Google Chrome Anonymous Mode ^^
