made a couple niche sites 2 weeks ago, i have 12 articles for the 3 sites. i didnt do a lot of backlinking on them yet. all of these sites are very closely related to each other and i see now that there are many more similar "niche site" worthy keywords i can go after.
usually 2-5k exact searches with $2 cpc, easy to very easy competition

here is an example: ipod30gb.com, iphone4.com, ipad2.com are my niche sites. and there is an endless amount of new kw's like ipod 60gb, iphone5 ect...

would it be better to combine them all into an authority site and keep adding content? ie: my example authority site would be something like applestuff.com

should i keep building these niche sites or take them down and build an authority site?

if i go with the authority site, would i be able to move the articles from my niche sites to the new authority site without getting a duplicate content penalty?

    In the sandbox. Again.
I'm not knowledgeable enough to give an opinion on authority vs niche but you would use 301 redirects to avoid duplicate content penalties.

It's actually a little weird now. Niche sites aren't getting spanked too hard, but authority sites that have strange linking and other violations (...trademark...) get smacked as soon as they get top 3 spots. Expect a manual review at 1st spot.

If you get a domain that isn't a blatant violation and you combine your sites together by rewriting your articles, not spinning them, then you'll be in a good position.
