When you're pissed off with something or someone just covert that energy into motivation and get to work. Being pissed off with something won't take you anywhere in life, work will.

In my opinion it's one of the most effective ways of motivation, specially when you get that feeling of accomplishment.

Another tip is, never really open up too much to friends about what you're doing (if you are making money online)...you can leave a hint but telling them everything is simply plain wrong. Also, friends can spread shit very fast, and then everyone knows what's you're thing.

I've been very skeptical about revealing "know how" to "friends" and it revealed (at least to me) a great decisions. You just get close to some people because of the force of circumstances, and circumstances are a changing variable. Then shit goes down and you already gave them knowledge without getting anything of value in return. From a business standpoint, that's a bad thing...right? ;)

I find IM the only profession that people try to dig for info about and it's annoying. They look at you blankly and are like "oh yeah, how does that work?". It's not like I look at a cashier and ask what button they press to get the damn register open

Yes, and then they try to squeeze all the info that they can. That's why I never talk about I do and to the ones that I already gave hints I just leave them with generic/blank answers and now they just don't ask thing anymore.

To each his own, I guess.

It's because they think it's a silly profession where you're only Googling all day or sending e-mail spam posing as a Nigerian prince. Many people might think that whatever you're doing is simple, so they try to squeeze information out of you either to mock you (e.g, "you get paid to do that? That's nothing compared to what I have to do at my real job.") to make themselves feel like they're doing real work or so that they can try to enter the same profession (e.g., "If you can do it, so can I. How do I get started?").

You're spot on about friends spreading rumours fast. However, the problem with not telling anyone what you're doing is that you've just given them permission to let their imaginations run wild. I started off not telling people as well, and during that time I had people assume the following about me:

    • I'm a serial killer
    • I'm depressed
    • I'm looking at porn all day
    • I have schizophrenia
    • I'm avoiding a real job
    • I'm lazy

The best way out is to make the questioners wonder... for example, when you're in front of the mirror, ask yourself those kind of questions and answer them in a way that the answer will look authentic but will not reveal any thing about how you do it. :) Practice it a few times. Ask as many different questions to yourself and create convincing answers to them likewise.

Now the next time someone asks you those kind of questions, you won't get irritated or angry. You can smile back and look fully relaxed and confident, and it will seem that you are absolutely and freely giving them an answer, without of course giving out any secrets. You have gone through those kind of questions before, when you'd rehearsed in front of the mirror, and therefore no such questions will catch you off guard. You can even win some admiration in return!

For example, a few years back, the accountant in the bank where I received many PP payments, usually would ask me the same question almost every time. He would ask/probe as if it was a crime to receive money from abroad: "What is this paypal, and why are you getting money from it?" Initially I got irritated and would have told him to mind his own business or send up a complaint if he is too suspicious, but as he was kind of friend :))), I told him that I was working as a client-server consultant for some companies abroad, and they paid me through this bank in the Singapore and its branches in the USA... I also told him that in the business circle abroad, PP is lot bigger than the City Bank or the Chase Manhattan, and almost all the very top businesses preferred PP over those giant banks. After telling him the same answer for about 4 times and with a smile, and a relaxed face, he was convinced, and even began giving me more respect. :)

Yep, channeling negative energy into positive energy and all that shit.

This is what a lot of successful people do. Like when Paul Potts did the opera singing in Britains Got Talent. Dude was a sad, insecure mess of a guy (and still is for the most part lol). You could even see in his eyes on stage what a sad, miserable bastard he was. Then his mouth opened and he turned that sadness into something beautiful.

Same thing with Christy Brown from "My Left Foot". With Daniel Day Lewis. Guy had cerebral palsy and basically lived in hell. But he channeled all the anger and misery into his left food and created beautiful paintings from it.

Then in my own life when I was in prison trying to stay sober. I channeled all that anger, depression, sadness, suicidal thoughts into non stop lifting and working out. And I continued to exercise like a beast for 3 years after I got out. I'd workout before work, go work 8 hours, come home and go back to the gym. Now I just do it once a day.

And even though I didn't make money from my looks back then I inspired many people around me (without really realizing it at the time). Like my older brother who had worked out his whole life but always been a bit overweight. He told me straightout after I was released, "I never believed anyone in this family had the genetics for a 6 pack until I saw you take your shirt off". I had always been jealous of my brothers physique until then. Then he got jealous and angry channeled all that shit into finally getting shredded. Even now, like 10 years later he's still shredded and takes great care of himself.

Then there's Opera. All the abuse in her early life, she turned that into something good.

The problem is, not everyone can cope this way. For me, I had to be plummeted head first into hell, and even after that it was 1 random visit with my family in prison that made me "snap". I was thinking of ways to kill myself every day. And when my family saw the psychological condition I was in, I'd never seen them so worried. Like, "what the fuck is wrong with you? you have everything? you're smart? good looking? and you wanna throw all that away for what"? I always use to go back to my cell and sulk like a bitch. But I just snapped and said, "I'm doing 500 push ups". Took out a piece of paper, then slowly did 20 sets of 25 pushups.

The next day, I did 500 more, then started doing sit ups. Then started spending hours in the rec yard.

And tbo, I didn't feel like I was "channeling" any type of positive energy. It felt more like an escape from hell at first. But after months and months passed by I become much more positive. Much more confident. And till this day, even though I'm far from perfect. Even though I have a lot left to learn about life in general. I'm just not that poor, helpless bitch I use to be.

Life really is all about, "no pain no gain". You can spend your life hiding, avoiding or running away from pain, boredom and displeasure. Or you can embrace these things and learn to grow from them. You can help OTHER PEOPLE grow with you. Everyone on this forums gonna be dead 100 years from now. But considering that you have eternity to lay around and do nothing.... you might as well do something positive while you're alive.

Oh... and one last thing. I know we're all money hungry marketers on here but don't become a slave to money. Try doing things you actually enjoy. Cause I'd much rather die poor doing something I love (like Kevin Richardson "the lion whisperer" who we all know is gonna be eaten by a lion 1 day) than die rich doing something I hate.

Sounds great in writing but doing is a whole nother story. :)

That's a nice way to "avoid" the problem...I guess that's a good way to avoid their attention without giving them any valuable info.

Everyday it passes I believe more that the less you reveal the better. Time is taking care to prove that I'm right on this one. The only one who I tried to help a lot to get into this "online money thing" was dumb so he never made into it nor had the needed dedication. Since then I believe that most of "friends" will treat you like a disposable thing and don't deserve to have some of the most valuable knowledge that I have shared with them. When they don't need you anymore they will just disconnect from you (due to environment constraints, new friends, or just some other variable). I know this dude that is in college a lot of miles away...when he is in college he doesn't give a shit because he's too busy with other people and then when he is back in town where I live (holidays) he starts talking again. I don't give a shit, his loss. I'm too busy to give a shit about him now. Actually I just turn that into motivation.

You can build a clientele around it. My loss in that process was I didn't :( used his position (as a bank accountant who was meeting some of the welknown offline marketers everyday) to market my "other" services. For example, I could have asked him to refer my services to his old friends (aka: those bank clients), as he was such a nice person :), and I could have "helped his friend" greatly in all their online matters like building a site, writing articles, getting local potential customers, etc., for a "small" professional charge which was easily manageable for them.

I even could have made him a low-cost but highly professional personal site where he could have talked about his hobbies and his vacations! Indian bank officers get to enjoy lot of holidays and vacations throughout the year, and because of their position they meet lots of important people on daily basis! He could have been a good source for building a business, and I could have opened many accounts in various other banks and done similar things. But I didn't capitalized on that opening back then.

So get the irritation out of your system, and see how you can convert that into potential profits. :)

To each their own. I convinced my best friend I knew what the fuck i was talking about and now have a mobile app developer at my disposal. It is about using your resources efficiently.

Inspiring life story man. It's great to hear where you are now compared to where you were before. I guess you can say it all begins with you and no one else right! You got to take some action. The problem is that most people who want to succeed don't have that motivation... probably because they are too spoiled or have some bullshit reason.

Honestly, I try to take every bad experience as a blessing no matter how hard it mind-fucks you. To me, it takes some kind of downturn in life to actually challenge the actual person who you are... you either channel that negative energy into something good for your life or into something bad. It's our choice.

As to the OP, thanks for bringing this up.
