I had set up an ebay buyer account about a year ago and really forgot about it. Now, I'd like to sell things, but I wonder if using that account for a sellers account will be ok?

Years ago I was suspended just because of association with an old room mate. I did not really use any special tactics to setup the ebay buyers account. I just happen to have moved since then and have a new computer and I'm sure my IP isn't the same anymore nor is my email address. The reason I am worried is because when I set up my paypal account it was limited within a day and I am not sure why. I had no transactions as of yet.

Should I try to use the year old account or start over?

You should probably start over and create a whole new account using your current information. Just forget about your old account.

Make sure when you create a new account that everything is new or almost new. You said your IP, EMail, and address is diffrerent. Oh and you have a new pc. That should be enough.

Sure if it is your real information you can sell with a buyers account. All seller accounts start somewhere :)

If its all your genuine information, there's no need to worry. You can just go ahead with selling products. I dont see any flag in this.

I don't think my question was very clear. I am not real experienced at setting up stealth accounts so its kind of hard for me to explain what I am worried about.

    1. I had an old account with my legit info ..years ago and it was suspended.
    2. I decided I wanted to buy something on eBay about a year ago so I thought they probably won't notice if I set up a new account as a buyer, so I did.
    3. I just forgot about that account for a year and did nothing else on it.
    4. Now, I thought I might start selling on eBay,but was worried they'd link my account with the old one that was banned years ago.

The ebay account that I set up a year ago is fine right now,but would they look at things harder if I began selling on it or since its a year old would it not raise as much of a red flag.

Also, I found out that the paypal account I set up was limited because of a negative balance of a few dollars from my son's account. It says if that balance is brought current the limit will be lifted. Any advice. I really don't mind paying for him anyway either way. I just wonder if I should just start for scratch with paypal and not link it to the year old eBay account? This whole thing confuses me a bit.

Possibly, it would be best to go ahead and set up a few stealth ebay accounts and let them sit now. Then just start selling on the year old account and if and when it goes down the other ones will have aged a bit and will be ready for use.

Start over. You can never be too safe. And I mean, you lived with a nefarious person -- best case. So ebay is right to kind of be suspicious of you. They're a business after all.
