Is it reasonable to expect that buying a TumblrBot software is not a good idea if it's for a one-time fee? Like I'm just wondering.. Bots like that probably require regular updates right? So why would a software seller do regular updates then? Or do you guys know of any softwares out there that can be bought with a 1-time fee and will continuously make updates to ensure it's working?

In my experience from coding my own bots, tumblr doesn't really change often codewise, so it does not require many updates. I assume that as long as the developer is still getting sales, the program will continue to be updated regularly. Bots for Facebook, YouTube and Twitter are more the demanding and require more updates.

Check what the policy is for updates, there is a difference between having a bot custom coded for you and buying an off-the-shelf retail bot that is sold to many end users.
