    Hello,

Sometimes when I publish content on Tumblr and then search for it using their search function my content doesn't show up. This only happens with some of the blogs I run on there, not all of them. They are different niches so I'm wondering if they are blocking certain tag phrases...

Does anyone know if Tumblr blocks content with certain tags from showing up in their search results?

    Thanks!

On tumblr all accounts start on some level of being ghosted.

What does that mean? That they do not appear on search results inside of tumblr at first. If your accounts has some activity like following people, liking and rebloging posts, and getting people to follow you will remove the ghosting of your posts and will start appearing on tumblr's tag search.

    OK, thanks for the reply!

Do you know how long they are "ghosted"?

I have accounts that got themselves appearing in the tags search without me doing a thing on propose so it's kinda random, like everything on tumblr.

    How old are your accounts?

This batch are all new, within 1-3 days old... But, I do have another account that's 1-2 weeks old and it still doesn't show up in their search results.

Maybe I should be more "active" on them and reblog, like, follow more.

Maybe it's a problem with your tags, are they all the same on each photo? Are you using a limited number of tags varied on all your posts?

Maybe it's because you are adding too much tags, I believe the word around is that tumblr only indexes the first 5 tags of each post, maybe you are looking for tags beyond that.

Are a rule of thumb, try to identify what's different blog and tag wise on the blogs that are indexed on the tag search and try to recreate that on your accounts having problems.

The tags are all the same on each photo since I upload them to my blog in batches and changing the tags for each would be very time consuming.

Each blog I run has a different number of tags that I use for each photo. For example, one of the blogs uses 11 tags on each photo I upload. When I search for any of the tags it doesn't show up in the search results.

I will try to keep the tags at a 5 minimum and take a closer look to see which blogs are getting indexed in the tag search and find the variables. Maybe I'll just start creating the accounts, spending the 1st day it's alive just reblogging, liking, following and then start adding content later.

Sure bro, you have to start split-testing the shit out of some accounts to see what's the problem.

Anyway, good luck with your tags.

Yea, I just usually create, upload tons of content and leave them alone. They get suspended rather quickly so I don't even bother maturing them or treating them like they'll be around for a while.

Anyway, thanks again for the tips at least now I have some more ideas to look into... :)
