    Before I begin,

i'd like to know if anyone would be down to expose their contradictive policies (if for nothing else to shed some negative light on them in the public/media)

What would be the point? The point would be to expose these bogus policies and force them to change one way or the other.

I know many you might look at this as a waste of time. I've managed to have a number of blogs restored as a result of speaking up over the course of using Tumblr for the past year and a half.

The bottomline is a closed mouth never gets fed.
By the same token i'm not losing any rest over it obviously, as I have many more blogs.

I'm gonna contact some news/media outlets.
And keep it pushing as always... However more numbers would have greater impact i'm certain.

    The Letter They Sent:

Look at this bullshit I got yesterday as the reason for banning a blog of mine:

    Hi Laura,

Our Community Guidelines on spam specify:
Don't put deceptive links or dubious code in your posts. That includes using Javascript to inject unwanted ads in blogs, or embedding links to interstitial or pop-up ad services. Don't use deceptive means to generate revenue or traffic, or create blogs with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing.
Having all the click-through links on your blog redirect to
http://yoursite.com is a direct violation of these guidelines.

Unfortunately we can't restore accounts that have been terminated for violating our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
    Best,

    My Response Letter:

    Ok,
Tumblr/Yahoo, or whatever you've become... this is phony reasoning for banning my blog and is absolutely ridiculous. (and VERY insulting)

Why is it you clearly allow other users (companies primarily...) to have click thru links on images to their blogs , Facebook pages and in lots cases even directly to checkouts where products are being sold?

Yet, users like me cant have click thru links to my webpage??? I'm not even selling anything. LOL.

Here's a small list I just found in less than 10 mins. of blogs which "violate" your so-called TOS:

    http://blog.bustedtees.com/

    http://tinypic.com/r/15frri9/5
(if this isn't a classic example of unfair and bogus "TOS" I don't know what is...)

    http://katespadeny.tumblr.com/#!/
    http://tinypic.com/r/123ta2q/5
(this is ok I guess because they're Kate Spade?)

You claim it is against the terms to have the same URL in click thru links ?
So what is this? http://instagram.com/p/b34FDpgeJO/ (ALL images on their blog click thru to their Instagram account , where guess what? They encourage visitors to "head to facebook to find out how to purchase before it's too late"
Oh, but you knew that already.....)
"07.17.13 spotted our martinique pillows in the office. head to facebook to find out how to purchase before it's too late! (at Kate Spade New York)" (This is CLEARLY a promotion of their product...)

And how do you explain your 'policy' on blogs such as these:

    http://modcloth.tumblr.com/
    http://tinypic.com/r/33nkn12/5

With posts littered with short links obviously intended for marketing purposes:
    http://mod.com/160GXXo
which redirect to landing pages such as this one:

    http://www.modcloth.com/shop/maxi-s..._campaign=community_20130722_mstumblr_maxi_JC

There are countless blogs on Tumblr with link after link of REAL affiliate redirects that you intentionally DO NOT go after because the fact of the matter is your alibi for banning my blog and others is bull.

What is the TRUE point of banning users like me from having a blog that clearly was not selling anything of ANY kind? Is it that you just DON'T want adult blogs on Tumblr at all?

if this is the case why won't you be HONEST enough to show respect to the communities that built Tumblr in the first place?

At this point it should be quite apparent MY blog must be restored and disassociated from all of the bogus claims made thus far.

More importantly, it is both obvious (and wise...) that you either enforce your so-called 'TOS' regarding affiliate marketing, "skeems" , and link redirects, or call it quits.

    Regards,
    Laura

    Thoughts:

The last time I called them on their bull$hhhh they instantly restored 4 blogs of mine. (10 blogs in total i have had restored :)

Again, in the end i'll keep it pushing , but I would love to nail their a$$e$ some how...

    Anybody else in?

There should be an entire section on this forum called:

Don't waste your time with tumblr, here's why.

    LOL... I hear ya George,
but i'm approaching $10k in earnings as a result of T$mblr marketing ($5k from Juicy alone...) ALL passive

So please don't think this was meant to be a cumbaya rant...
    There's $$$ involved.

Sure it's peanuts in the big equation, but passive peanuts...

I've had them tell me you can't put links in the global caption... They're full of shhh period.

I have at least 20 blogs up now with both and have been up longer than the one that was taken down.

Tumblr marketing is a very risky business to get into. Spread your links through out various blogs and proxies. When Yahoo bought Tumblr, everything crashed and burned. Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Start reinvesting your money into different methods. I wish you the best days to come.

    Thanks Woozy,

Yes, i know this (i'm not new to Tumblr actually...)

I remember when it wasn't this bad last year. I also however recall when the big sweeps started happening long before the Yahoo acquisition.

I've been diversified for quite sometime so no worries there... (i've been in IM for 4 years now...)

I have several streams of online and offline income, with that being said Tumblr is an awesome traffic generator within itself. It'll settle properly at some point. And i'll be there if there so long as i can leverage it.

Negative emotions can cost a lot of energy.
When I get an email that angers me, I wait at least 1 day before I answer. Mostly after 1 day I don't answer and just put the energy in my work.
Also, I would never blame a collegue/competitor with the goal to make myself look better. But probably (I hope) this was a result of the negative emotions.

I have countless blogs down and I gave up trying to understand why they ban some blogs and others remain up longer, it might depend of the stars alignment. Proxies didn't work for me either, sites were banned the same, and furthermore if you have to pay for proxies each time TMBLR bans you a blog, you'll die in poverty. What I have done is wait a couple of days, make more blogs and pray for them to remain up...
Don't think is a good idea to get mad about this nor to start a Crusade against their policies. Just use the time to make a blog--->get banned---->make two blogs

I appreciate your input, but I totally disagree with your thinking.

Let me first start off by saying "getting mad" does NOT apply to me nor my thinking.
Just because I call them on their policies does not mean I am "mad"

When you lay down you get ran over. They have already changed their policies in fact just yesterday as a result of the adult community giving them hell over the past few months concerning their isolating policies. (Which by the way I was a part of...)

If you read my comments above you would have seen that as a result of contesting in the past I have had blogs restored. Was it worth it for me ? Yup ... $$$
Did they all last forever? Of course not. Do I REALLY care? LOL...:p

I create dozens of blogs at a time so I am never running short on blogs believe me.

Proxies are STILL working for me (and many others I know who are making $ with T$Mblr)

"Dieing of poverty"??? LOL dude... it takes $$$ to make $$$ furthermore, only a dummy would buy proxies for T$Mblr only.

As I mentioned this is just ONE of many revenue streams I have both online and offline.
it's been worth it for me as it is all automated and passive and pays for itself.

Of course knowing when to throw in the towel is a wise thing.Learning is even greater for me (especially while earning )

I'll be running this till the wheels fall off...

Good luck to you and your IM ventures
Whatever you decide to devote your time to though, don't give up...

When i first started Tumblr there were ppl saying the EXACT same thing you are saying and guess what?
I prevailed. Not only did I prevail, but I've profited and most importantly i've learned more things that I apply to other streams of IM I do (and was doing both prior to getting into Tumblr and since getting into Tumbllr)

    Keep Pushin'...

When you are not paying, YOU are the product.

Tumblr wants to keep all the money made under their system. They don't want you making $$ there, so whatever they can do to get you out, they will. Remember, you're not paying for Tumblr, whatever money you made there is 100% profit as far as hosting is concerned, so keep that in mind, it can bite you anytime.

I don't agree with Tumblr and agree that their terms are confusing, but that's done on purpose so they can filter out those who aren't making them $$$, for whatever reason.

LOL...your right negative emotions expend a great deal on the nervous system.

However, I have no idea what you're talking about. "blame a collegue/competitor with the goal to make myself look better." Why would I have to do that???

I'm earning as I post this thread. If you're referring to the examples i pointed out to T$Mblr, that wasn't an attempt to hate on those blogs. That was meant to illustrate that there are double standards towards adult blogs vs. non adult.

Anyways they have changed their policy again. And guess what?
    It's to my advantage?

I understand this clearly. And you know what? I'd be the first to pay for ads (In fact I made an attempt many months ago..)

95% (or more of those on T$mblr )aren't paying for anything, except those who are running ads on their new ads system. Besides, just like the non adult blogs I push traffic to my own hosted blogs where I have autonomy.

No complaining here about that. Besides, the issue and point in this thread isn't about me posting ads or ways to make money on a T$mblr blog, never was.

The issue is the same as it will always be.
They need to be straight up about the TOS. Simple.

Not allowing one blog to use a click thru link to their blog , while allowing countless others (which just happen to be non adult blogs ) IS the issue.

If that's their stance, then they should say that... not use contradicting rhetoric.
