I am 19 years old, my dad owns a moving and storage company in southern california. His warehouse is only half full, and he hasn't really done SEO work for his website. I have completely revamped his website to web 2.0 (before it looked like a shitty geocities website) and now I am trying to do SEO. I want to get him indexed on page 1 for google for high competition storage related keywords. I can get him alot of business because the related keywords like "southern california storage" get ALOT of local searches, this will make his phone ring. What do you guys suggest is the best way to do this? Article submission? Anchoring text? I have a trial of SEnuke and I have submitted 3 articles for a certain keyword to a bunch of websites a week ago and I'm only on page four for that keyword. What would you guys do?

If your dad's got a budget, start buying links with the anchor text you want. If it's a legit business I would stay away from Scrapebox / Xrumer style spamming.

    Article submission could definitely help.

Put up articles / content on your main site too, have a blog section with articles about how to move, how to find a good mover, things to look for in secure storage etc.

You can submit the blog section to blog directories and RSS feed directories.

You can set up feeder blogs on free hosts with articles about moving / storage and link to your main site from them. These could be spammed a bit more dirtily than your main site.

Submit the site to all of your regional business directories and try to get links from there.

Make sure you're on Google places.

Also work out the regional related long tails and target them. Remember you can get just as much traffic from hitting a number of long tails vs hitting a few short tails.

What exactly are long tails / short tails.

Also, I shouldn't buy a back linking service?

Also do you suggest link wheels?

Hey wttldt, I'm located in SoCal too and do local offline SEO marketing. I have some clients in LA in the fashion district. PM me if you could use my service, we can work something out. I'd be more than happy to meet in person with you and your dad to go over what I do and how I can help.

    Let me know.

Do a little bit of everything:

    - Article submission
    - Social bookmarking
    - Xrumer blast (small after you've gotten plenty of quality backlinks)
    - edu backlinks
    - linkwheel
    - angela paul backlink service

Look in the 'Services For Sale' section, and you'll find plenty of these services for sale.

Do onsite seo like having good, relevant content and keywords on your page.

stop trying to sell the guy some service - thats totally out of line

make some 2.0 sites post some articles link to the main site and scrapebox the 2.0 sites

make sure the main site has perfectr description keywords etc

and also look at the content

go get yourself .edu links manually and social bookmark everything

lastly make a twitter facebook account and just keep the accounts active

if you do all that in a month you will be page 1

    goodluck

I know this kinda answer is not going to be popular on an SEO based website, but quite frankly, getting offline companies to rank on google doesn't really do much for them.

Why not do this... It's a storage based company right? Find out what kind of people are his best current customers right now. I'd imagine people who are moving from a larger house to an appartment or something like that. Then have him contact a moving company. Have him set up some kind of deal with the moving company so that if the moving company refers people to his storage facility, the moving company gets some kind of upfront fee, or a percentage of the monthly payment...

Or have him set up one of those "First month free" deals, then set up a CPA like program in your area where people are paid for giving away that one free month...

    Hope that helps dude :)

Southern California is huge. I live in Los Angeles, but I certainly wouldn't use a storage place in say San Fernando Valley or Orange County. Well, unless I was moving there :D

First narrow down the keywords for the location. Yes, SoCal gets a lot of searches, but it's not really targeted. Then set up a fully optimized G00gle Places with every section completed including coupons and pictures of the place. Add some videos emphasizing the cleanliness and the safeness of the place. These are the things that I look for in a storage place and I've used several!

It would be really great if you can get some of the current customers to give video testimonials. Put these up the website and in the G00gle Places.

List the business on Yelp (it's very popular here), Merchant Circle, Local, Yahoo and MSN. Get customer reviews. Also, a listing on Craigs List wouldn't hurt.

Since the business is legit, don't have any xrumer/SB links to the main site IMO.

Make some nice 2.0's and articles in high PR article directories pointing to his site, then send sb links/xrumer to those.

-> Also I'd look into legit link exchange with someone who has storage in let's say Miami - you guys can both get some good link juice and it's not like you are both competing.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I have SEnuke and 33 articles centered around keywords that I can easily change to long tail keywords... I just want to know how I can make his phone ring. Do you think SEnuke will help?

I like the CPA idea, how would I go about this?

He's on google places, but how would I get his listing to place higher than others? Reviews? In addition to this, would I be able to black hat the reviews?

In addition, I am getting mixed reviews for xrumer, should I use it or not?

Since your Dad's business is legit (like Jared stated above), I would recommend staying away from any blackhat stuff. G00gle Places has changed so much recently, but completing all section of the Places including pictures, videos, etc will help it rise. Check out the competition and get more reviews than they have.

    Wish you luck.

Some good advice here. Don't do anything "un-natural" in regards to building to your fathers site. The last thing you want to do is harm it and no matter what anyone says here, very few people know what will actually harm it in rankings.

if your going to do anything automated or hire any services to do anything for you, do it to a secondary site that you build, or 2.0 sites that you don't care about, NOT your fathers site.

so far i'm using SEnuke and article submits, when can I expect to see some surges in traffic? I am submitting 400 word quality articles with anchored text to my dad's website.

Good luck to you and your dad.

I agree with others above - I would try to stay as white hat as possible and focus on review/testimonials.

That should help his google places/local search results.

Its always risky making SEO for a legitimate site. Start with white SEO only.
