Ok, here is what's happening to my newly built site. I found a niche with ~5000 exact searches and fairly low competition. I picked up an exactmatch.org domain, since .com had already been taken and was ranking on google's first page. I set up a site with custom made html code, 2 pages of unique content (the .com domain had only one page and was still ranking high). I have privacy policy, about us and contact us pages + site map. I pinged the site with pingomatic and it appeared on the 37th position in google a few days later. I submitted 3 unique articles to ezine, goarticles and articlebase, threw out two or three links on social networks and my site is still on the very same 37 position. It neither moves up nor down.

Can someone tell me why this happens and how to make my site rank higher?

Give it some time... You can't expect it to jump in ranking every time you make a backlink... Search engines takes time to crawl then index pages and then give you credit for links.

Keep working on site and it will come up in ranking. Also you should add more content, it helps if you do regular update.

I have similar issues, stated campaign for low competition keyword about 2 weeks ago, still no movement.

Im trying to rank for a keyword(s) that have little competition, in fact the number 1 has 9 backlinks all no PR.

    I use

    http://www.visible.net/tools/analyzer/index.php

    to compare pages

My page has around 4.2% keyword density

the description and the keywords are more relevant than number 1

I have over 250 backlinks some from high pr pages.

when I put this through market samurai I notice the only thing is #1's domain is older than my own..

How long before I take the top spot...

I think you guys are being a little impatient.

All your backlinks, and comments and content needs to be indexed. i.e. ALL of it, you can ensure your own site is indexed quickly, but you cant make all your ezines and the like get indexed.

I have also found it takes it takes 4-5 days for a page to be ranked after googlebot visits.

Backlinks, backlinks, backlinks. That's the only thing missing from your equation at this point.

Ok, this is ridiculous. I've been adding backlinks to my site since my last post, all manually. 1-2 links per day and sometimes less, to make sure google won't treat it unnatural. All links were coming from submitted articles with unique content. As a result Google has dropped my site from 37th to 40th position. Does it make any sense?

1 to 2 a day isn't going to seem unnatural to Google for sure. 10 a day probably won't either. Some people don't seem to have any problems with a large number of backlinks from the get go. You should, however, branch out to some different types of backlinks instead of just articles and the like.
