    3. Added a About page on the blog.
    3. Made a permalink structure like this /%postname%/
    5. Made 3 posts (All got indexed the next day)
    6. Installed Sitemap plugin.
    7. Uploaded a Robots.txt file to ftp.
    8. Submitted my sitemap to webmaster tools

Hi Knoxgates I'd have thought being a Jr. Vip you'd be able to tell us :)

    I'd also for starters

    1) Add Website disclaimer, Terms Of Use and Privacy Policy
    2) RSS Footer plugin
    3) DDSSitemapGen Sitemap plugin (this isn't the sitemap.xml)
    4) UP Smart Update Pinger (or something similair)
    5) A Contact page
    6) Create catagories (I like 5 but 3 minimum)
    7) Add at least 5-6 posts in each catagory new post daily (unique content)
    8) Then dripfeed posts 1-2 a week (more if you like)
    9) Start backlinking your posts but keep it light for first 3 months
    10) When you have at least 5 posts submit RSS feed to agregators
    11) Link blog to twitter / Identi.ca account using ping.fm build followers on accounts

That should do for a start.

hehehe Blogging has changed for sure since 2007 although with your html site experience it's just a change of platform. Blogs still rank so well it makes me sick! I have a number of Joomla sites and even with it's blogging additions and RSS feeds it takes a lot more to get the damn things ranked. I've almost stopped doing anything else although I'm sure that'll change one day.
