I live in Southern Philippines (Mindanao). Fortunately I live really far south, but a few days ago I attended a wedding that was far up north (where the tropical storm hit). 500 people (probably more, so far 500 bodies found) washed out to sea. Thousands of people displaced, entire squatter communities (the people that typically live along the edge of rivers) completely swept away. Heavy damage on well-built structures. It's making for a very sucky Christmas time, my wife has lots of family up north where their homes were either destroyed or heavily damaged. In case you're interested, found this place to donate Code: http://www.worldvision.org/news/tropical-storm-washi-slams-philippines The numbers in that article are pretty understated at this point, but anyways. I didn't donate there but it looks pretty credible, I had plenty enough donations to go around just for our own extended family. It was almost surreal on the way home, tons of towns with lit Christmas park scenes in total ruin, broken trees everywhere with destroyed homes. Should have taken pictures but camera was full of pics from the wedding. Luckily all my wife, kids and I experienced was a big rainfall.
