    Hey guys,

I'll be heading to the airport tomorrow to go to London. I'll be meeting up with some friends and family who are vacationing over there. The flight is going to suck! but then it's all happy time from there. :D

I know there are many people here that have at least visited London so let's hear some suggestions. I'll be there for the next 2 weeks or so. So I'll have plenty of time to visit many places.

I hope I don't get stuck with the guy from "Due Date". I JUST watched that movie

Is it really an 8hr flight though? Im getting mixed answers..

Cooome one, you haven't sit in a bus for 2 days while it's 100°F towards the end ;)

Anyway, have a great time! Will check out London pretty soon, too.

I recommend visiting either Hackney or Newham boroughs. Lots to see and do.
Maybe take a walk though East Ham or Plaistow on a nice evening.

Can you tell me what there is to see in Hackney? Real talk you might as well tell him to go visit an estate in Peckham.

It doesn't really matter if it's a tourist side of town or not. I just want to have a good time with kool new people that are actually from the UK. Most of the times that I go to a new place i go to where the tourists go which is pretty boring since i see the same people from here.

Geezz you're telling an American to go to Thorpe Park and Alton Towers when they have the bets theme parks in the world. LOL

Tower of London is a must.
    Houses of Parliament
    London Eye
    Piccadilly Circus
    Trafalgar Square
    Covent Garden
Buckingham Palace if you like looking at big grey ugly buildings!

    All very popular for tourists.

If you want to go out of London a few miles for a bit of history and culture go see Hampton Court, Henry VIII's residence and don't forget to try the Maze. Head on down the Thames to Windsor Castle, that's always impressive.

Have a great trip, the weather is just about to hit 30c in London so your timing is just right.

Nowt wrong with Peckham mate! Used to live just up the road from Peckham - Dulwich - few years back, very eclectic place to shop and hang out!

OP if you want to get off the beaten track check out Stoke Newington for some great eateries, for theatre go to the Bush or the Tricycle Theatres. Shopping, well you have to go the the West End and pop over to Knightsbridge.

Make sure you have a load of £££ - expensive city!

Oh and take the No. 12 bus from south London into town and you'll go over Westminster Bridge and see the Houses of Parliament on the river and drive past Downing Street! ...oh those were the days!! Have fun! :)

Oh damn I just told you all the tourist places to go. Well you need to head out of London as there's no English left there, just tourists .... ok I'm exaggerating a little but you know what I mean ;)

I've been to London a few times and only the last time I went, I did the whole tourist tour and it was awesome. The Dungeons were super fun (watch out for that skeleton that spits on you) and I loved Camden market too. If you are going to take lots of busses /tube, get an Oyster card (I think it was called) and for six pounds, you can ride all day long.

    Try some of these.

    Camden market.

Walk along the canal at camden market towards primrose hill get to the top of primrose hill and you can see over london.

    South bank.

Take a ferry from embankment down to the o2 in greenwhich. Cheap and great way to see a different perspective.

On sunday morning go to brick lane in east london. This includes spitalfields market and petticoatlane

    Brixton on a saturday morning.

Go have some good pub food in one of the pubs along the river in richmond.

And then obviously the tourist stuff others have mentioned

Like the above poster said make sure you get an oyster card. It's £5 deposit for the card and if you're here for 2 weeks then get weekly travel top up on the card for at least zone 1 & 2. It's about £28 a week. You can use it on tubes and buses and get a 1/3 off the ferry on the river

Hey GloCK, you're a real London tourist advisor. They are the places I would
    show anyone coming to town.
I'm glad you posted Brixton on a Saturday morning, I love It, the atmosphere is brilliant. Brixton gets so much bad press but I has to be experienced.

I would also add the Victorian sewers, Climb to the top of the monument in Pudding lane where the great fire of London started,
Crystal palace for the views over Kent and Hampton Court which you could do while in Richmond.

Don't forget to go to Upton Park home of a real London football team and the best pie and mash with eels and pepper vinagar
    in the East end.

Holy crap guys, thanks a ton for the suggestions! This will be my first time in London so you can imagine what it's going to be like! What would be the best place to take my gf to? I know any place out there will be a good enough surprise but I want something unforgettable. Any of you guys have any experience in that "niche" :D

I'm also going to pick up a few iPad 2's. I was going to order them a few weeks back but now that I'm going over there, I've decided to pick them up myself. At least I know I won't get scammed :biglaugh:

Depends what zones he travels through, could cost usually between £6-12.
Oyster deposit has now gone up to £5 but you can get it back when you no longer need the card, best bet is to work out what zones you'll be travelling through and buy a travel card. (Although it's easier with the Oyster as it's PAYG and automatically capped at the travel-card rate, so you pay no more than you have to)

    Camden lock is great :)
I was going through there just last week with my fiance.
