    Hey guys

so i am running an ecommerce site, i am currently ranking top 20, and my site is spammed by 1 competitor(i know who he is) , the thing is other 18 sites in top 20 are also spammed with same amount of backlinks my site is spammed with, there is only 1 site that is not spammed and i am sure that is the competitor who spammed other 19 sites in top 20.

The guy who spammed 19 sites was once ranking top 3 but after he build spammy links to other sites they kinda outranked him and now his rank fell from top 3 to top 10-12.

I was actually thinking of submitting spam links in google through disavow tool, but i think the other 18 sites have not submitted those links in google and those links are actually helping them.

I am worried if i submit those links in disavow i will not be able to match my other competitors backlinks power since i am sure most of them have not submitted bad links in google yet. I am pretty sure google can't penalize 19 quality sites from top 20 results at once, even if that one competitor who spammed us report these sites.

What to do in this situation??

    thanks in advance.

you can only help others when you are in better position, try to focus on bringing back your site, just ignore whatever that does not benefits to yourself

    Do nothing,
unless he finds a way to index those spammy links. and I beleive no one have any idea how to index spammy links nowadays. In best senario google may index 10-15% of those spammy links and should be not harmful if your site has got good link profile.

My thoughts on situations like this: google will not index those links and not going to add or remove any value. wait until they appear in google webmaster and see if any (really) harm to your ranking happen.

The tricky question is What is a spammy link!!!!
One of my niche competator ranks in top 10 only with comments ( all of them on not quality sites at all) ,bookmarks... and random links from not quality sites :)
Even so, he beated my pbn network, and as he climps the ledder, going to beat rank 1 who has alot of high quality links.

Now, the second tricky question.. What is a Quality Link!!!!!

Do not try to be different from others in your niche. If everybody is spammed its ok.
Advice - increase trust in your site by building (buying) links from real, old (legitimate) sites (newspaper, sponsorship, guest blogging etc).
If he targets you with exact match anchors - build simple anchors: domain, com, www, domain, com etc.

If it was me i'd leave it be until it actually becomes a problem, if it ever does.

Just keep building quality natural links as usual

    Dear Mate,

Google update is step by step attempting to omitting those machine created links.

In this situation just sit back and enjoy until some notification comes from Google.

Try to get some top quality backlinks. Don't concentrate on high quantity links.

    Good Luck
