Hi SEO geniuses,

Okay so I have been managing one of my customers site since 2012 and over the years a lot of bad/spam backlinks where added by i dont know who that point to the https version of the website. At the moment i have done a 301 redirect from http to https.

Now my question is if I change that redirect and instead of 301 I make it a 302 redirect will my problem with the bad/spammy links that are damaging my websites SEO leave? (as 302 does not pass link juice) or will I make it worse by wrecking my SEO in other areas?

I hope I explained it well.

All feedback is appreciated.

Change of redirect type is not good idea. If tell Google with 302 that https is temporary, Google can reverte back and use http version instead.
Is not matter of protocol, is matter of domain link point to.

that is true. changing it to a 302 doesnt make sense and could hurt your ranking.
