So i always thought to click in one spot, then hold down shift and select another spot in order to highlight/select text, you had to be in a editable text area, doc, input field, etc.

but even if your cursor doesn't show up for typing, i.e. your on a blog or something reading text (or even this post) click one spot, then hold down shift and click another in the text. it wil select/highlight from the spot you clicked 1st to the 2nd =0

    either I'm :dunce:

    or

    idk

    :p

I read OP's method and decided to Take Action!
All I can say is wow it really works, but you have to follow the steps laid out exactly.

Now I just need to find a way to scale up!

Hopefully, this method won't become over saturated too fast!

    There 's always a first time :)

    Try this:

Put your index finger on the left control
Now put your other index finger on the left alt
Now try to press Ctrl-Alt-Del :D

To be honest, I didn't know about this trick at all, so I'd say we're both .
Either way, although it's cool, it's not something that I see my self using anyway...

I wouldn't really call this common sense.

Shift + CTRL + Left or right arrow. Fastest way to highlight stuff because you don't need to remove your hands from the keyboard. If you gotta highlight a lot, use the up and down arrow (works in other programs but not BHW).

depends on the mouse. i just hold don't ctrl for that, my left hand is always by it anyway.
    >.>
if you meant to make a play on cpa INFINITY mad props :china:
this isn't common sense, common sense is you either highlight a item in a list say of programs then shift click where you want to select all inbetween, or you click in a text box then shift click wherever you want all inbetween, this involves not seeing something get highlighted or something notify you where you click till you shift click and it highlights.
I use it a lot with all the stuff in my cpa network.
you can't use this on non-editable text like i'm talking about.
