    Ok,
so I have an idea to send my software product out on a "free trial" basis to businesses. If they keep it for 14 days or more I will charge their card for the software I sold them. Anyone have any experience with this? Any advice?

    Thank you.

Okay, so basically you want to give people free trials. But in order to get a free trial they need to give you their credit card info?

I've yet to see a free trial do this, and to be honest it's kind of risky. The whole purpose of a trial is to see if they like or dislike the program or not. That's from a whitehat perspective, I don't know if your looking to go Blackhat, but auto charging their CC after trial period could give you a lot of complaints etc.

I might of misunderstood the post, but that's what I got out of it. Either way I'll check back for responds.

I think you would be better served giving them part of what you are offering as a teaser and then following up with a phone sales pitch after they have had it for 5 business days.

I believe you will get a lot of people that set up a virtual card to get the software in hand and cancel the card before the billing incurs and other people copying the CD and mailing it back to you after they copy it.

I imagine you could give them a password that works for only two weeks also and that after the two weeks if they wanted to continue to use it you would charge their card and give them a permanent password.
