    Hello BHW!

I've never been one for journey threads but I've read a couple on here and they seem to help a lot of members find motivation to get shit going so I thought I'd throw a quick on up on my current journey or whatever you would like to call it. However mines going to be a little bit different then your typical journey thread of I'm currently making nothing and I want to make $X,XXX amount per month or whatever.

I currently run a successful business and make more then enough money to support my lifestyle every month. However I find myself spending long hours in front of the computer and having plenty of late nights filled with energy drink and techno music. I've been doing this routine for around 3 years now and it's starting to get old and has left me feeling quite unfulfilled with my life's day to day routine. Over the past few months I've had a growing feeling of just wanting to get away for a while.

This caused me to plan a 3 week trip to Australia to visit a close friend of mine and travel up and down the Gold Coast surfing as much as possible and what not. While this was my original plan things have changed very quickly in the past month or two. My friend in Australia convinced me to stay for 3 months instead of 3 weeks and when I get back I'm going to be traveling for 1+ years with another friend of mine. Where going to be heading to south america to catch the world cup amongst other things, then heading to india, asia, africa etc.

When I agreed to these plans I had literally no idea how it was going to pan out or even what my plan was, I only knew that I wanted to do it. Now over the past three years I have saved a considerable amount of money and could easily finance this trip without making any money and come back to states after 1.5 years still having plenty of money in the bank. Because of this, my original plan was to literally hit the pause button on my business and pick everything back up when I got back.

This seemed like a good idea but after a lot of thought I basically thought "Why the fuck would I do that? All this time spent in front of the computer just to let my business die out. No way in hell". So I came up with a new plan. to work less and make more while traveling the world. Since I changed my plan I've been building a team to maintain my business and keep it running on a day to day basis (yes I realize I should have done this along time ago). This should allow me to concentrate on my travels without having to manage everything each and every day.

However this only takes up half the equation, the other half is going to be growing my business to make bank while traveling. While I haven't fully figured this out, I'm sure that once I'm traveling it will come to me very quickly as I've always been a quick thinker and what not. And that's where this journey comes in, I'm going to be updating not only how my travels are going but how growing my business is going. Hopefully this will show a few people on this forum that pretty much anything is possible in the world of the internet. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy and feel free to ask any questions!

What a super idea :) Have you read the Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris? I highly recommend it, particularly when one is at the stage that you appear to be at now... Audio book download here

If you do go to the Gold Coast, make sure to go to Cavs steak house at least once... that place is amazing; I ate there 8-10 times a month when I lived on the GC. All in all, it's a pretty damn nice part of the world. There are an ever-increasing number of Americans there, too, for some reason.

Congrats on your decision - I hope you find what you're looking for :)

I'll be following this. I'm actually planning something similar, but instead of traditional "traveling", I'm planning on staying in a city/country for months at a time, renting an apartment, never really stopping working but at least I'll have something interesting to do on off days :)

I did this some years ago, and I gotta tell you, that time was a truly amazing time, and I smashed out some results that surprised myself and laid the groundwork for my life today :)
I guess there's something about a new environment, not 'knowing everything' about everything around you, and new sights, smells, and sounds that stirs the creativity... I also cut myself off (in a nice way) from everyone I knew that wasn't in a position that I wanted to be in - I figured my own company was better than that of someone who would drag me down :)
