    Hi everyone,

I am planning to start a website that will be similar to Travelocity, Expedia, etc but on much smaller scale.

Essentially I will be using affiliate programs to find good travel deals.

It's a new niche for me, so I was curious if you could give me some suggestions on what I should know going into this.

    Something like:
    - Do I need a blog? (for SEO)
    - Should I try to find a narrow niche like best 'Clubbing Destinations' or 'Vacations for Couple' or should I keep it broad?
    - How should I attract traffic? I am planning to use POPs, Facebook, Bing
    - Should I target US or all GEOs?

In general, if you have experience of running similar types of websites, your advice will be much appreciated!

    1. Yes have a blog and possibly use Buddypress as well or XenForo with a blog -- this creates community
    2. Yes use narrow niches and offer them as deals and packages
    3. Use traffic sources such as DSPs, supply-side DSPs and then focus on FB and sources where people are in the transactional mindset/"I am ready to buy". If you target pops, use mobile ads and try different slick ad formats -- use tools such as Adplexity, etc.
    4. I'd target the geos with the MOST volume as well as the most money. Asia is a hot, hot new area of tourism and it is only growing by billions of people. Singapore is huge as well as China with Baidu and there are many many other arenas in those spaces when you are working with organic traffic.
