    Hello BHW.

I was searching something on the internet, I found a Non-English article directory, tried to translate the whole page with Google Translate and I’m fascinated by the fact that how good Google translates that language to English. Suddenly I thought that maybe I can grab and translate all the content and create a couple of blogs to have some passive income. I will try to explain what I have done so far step by step. I’d also like to hear your opinions as well.

I won't hide my niche and tell. Articles are about Weight Loss, Diet Plans and Healthy Life.

    I do consider this not only for getting some passive income, it is also a case study about how good translated content is and what we can achieve with them + manual SEO link building without spending a penny. Here is my journey so far;

Let’s go step by step. This is also a TL;DR:
    1. Find Non-English content, grab and translate.
    2. Find expired domains with good metrics and create Wordpress blogs.
    3. Translate, import and schedule all the posts to blogs.
    4. Do some SEO stuffs.
    5. Monetize it with Adsense.
    1. Finding Non-English Content:
Well, I think, this is the most difficult phase of this project. I was lucky enough stumbled upon a clean source of articles and grabbed more than 17k articles with some little effort. I have used Xenu software to collect links and iMacros to extract content. With very limited coding skills, everybody can do that easily. I suggest you to learn how to use Notepad++. It is da real MVP.
If you want to find some good Non-English content, stop searching on Google.com and move local Google websites. For example: Try to translate "recipes" to Italian and search it on Google.it. You get the idea.
You should try to find content with fewer grammar mistakes and typos. Google is able to translate a lot of languages but not all languages are in same translation level, as you know. Try to translate different languages to English and test the content. If you know Spanish, French or German, that's a big advantage because you may aim to translate them to language you may choose. Since WWW is full of English websites and most of niches are already saturated you may prefer to translate the content to another language besides English.

    2. Finding Expired Domains With Good Metrics
Finding expired domains with good metrics but a clean history is really difficult. I have scraped about 1 million web pages about my niche, collect more than 80k domains. Only 2k of them were expired and you know what, I could only found a couple dozens of good domains. This is really annoying and if you don't use any paid service, it is VERY time-consuming. If you don't want to get angry or spend a lot of time for that, you can either buy expired domains or use paid services. Since this is a frugal journey, I did not spend a penny to find domains and I only used good old Xenu. I have no experience with paid services. I have decided to create 3 blogs and here are my domains:
Honestly, I could and did find better domains but I want that my domains are related with the content. You would not prefer to have a health blog for old senator campaign domain, right?

The things I have considered while choosing them: All domains have decent backlinks from health directories. One of them has backlinks from Ezine Articles. Another one was fairly shared on Facebook.

Before registering a domain, be careful about if the domain has already used as PBN or money blog. Most of expired domains already used as blog by Asians, mostly Japans. Check archive.org or screenshots.com. Check Adsense domain ban and backlinks for any shady activity in past.

How to host them?: Make sure all blogs have different IP's. I go with 3 basic shared hosting plans from 3 different companies. I've spent $40 in total for 3 domains + 3 hosting plans for 1 year. This is the only money I spent for this journey.

    Wordpress Plugins I use:
    • WP Ultimate CSV Importer: This is life saver! I could manage to import 800 posts every time without a problem. All kudos to this plugin. Make sure you have imported all posts as draft posts.
    • Draft Scheduler: 2nd big boy I have used. You can schedule all draft posts by a single click. You can choose time difference, start date etc.
    • WP Auto Tagging: Grabs keyword and create as much as tags you want automatically.
    • Daknetcorp Auto Tag Category: Auto choose post category based on tags it has. Handful!
    • SEO Post Content Links: Auto hyperlink to other posts from post body. Good for SEO and user experience.
    • Auto Featured Image: This plugin is a must. Grabbing images randomly from Flickr, based on post title and create featured images automatically. This is magical but don't expect a lot. Since it is fully automated, you may see Vladimir Putin on your post about potatoes. (Based on a true story.) Still good for SEO and readability.
    • DOM SEO Image: Auto fill img ALT and TITLE attributes based on the rules you choose.
    • Yoast SEO + Sitemap: Not even need to explain.
    • Slimpack: I only used it for contact forms and wordpress.com style share buttons.
    • Auto Terms of Service and Privacy Policy: Some says this is good for DA. Makes you look your site more professional. PS: Do not use same plugin on each blog for this purpose. It's a huge footprint.
    • YARPP: Shows related articles below every post.
    • W3 Cache: I won't also explain this.

    3. Translate, import and schedule all the posts to blogs.
For mass translate, I used iMacros. It is super easy to code a grabber and it works like charm. I did manage to scrap more than 17k article body and title (34k line in total) in a couple of days. I have slow internet -thanks to my country- and 6 years old i5 laptop. Do the math.

    4. Do some SEO stuffs
I only set up YOAST and add my blogs to Google Webmaster, Bing and Yandex. I've used 3 different Google account for this but you don't have to be sceptical if you will monetize the blogs with Adsense at the end of the day. Big G can find you anyway. This is not a PBN, and there is no limit about the amount of websites you can have. So relax, you won't get banned since you don't do something stupid. I won't do anything for SEO purposes for 30 days at least and I won't try to monetize the blogs since they got some decent visitors. My major aim is to have $50 passive income per day.

I have no anchor text or something and I really don't know how to build link for these blogs. Health niche in English is already saturated, I really don't expect a lot of visitors since my websites have totally no aim for any micro niches. Let's see if my blogs can get rank or not.

I will try to answer every question and update the journey once in a week.

Please share your ideas both negative and positive. I will choose my steps by using the comments you make.

    Thanks for reading! :)
    Sorry for my grammar mistakes.

Well, as I have said, this is also a case study. We will see what's gonna happen.
I don't edit the articles. Only made some styling like title tags and list tags. I only edited some post titles due to grammar mistakes.

another proof that many people take duplicate content too serious. you don't need 100% unique content to rank. in fact according to google's ex head of webspam matt cutts, 25% of the whole web is duplicate content and thats ok. so that being said, just try it yourself instead of just repeating all the myths about content you read in forums, because 90% is just people repeating what they've heard elsewhere without trying themselfs. they just assume things most of the time ;)

It is not about fooling Google. This niche is saturated and competition is extremely high. You need very strong back-links to show up in Google.

The risk I take is not duplicated content I guess. It is just low readability. Once again, we got too many articles already. Quantity over quality, in this case. Plus, we are not trying to fool visitors, only Google. I have created author box for each blog. Author names are Non-American and I wrote such things like "Sorry for my grammar mistakes, I'm still learning English." That's the best I could to.

You are right. At least domains are not totally new and got already some backlinks. That's why my target is $50/per day. If had 3 domains with 40+ DA, PA, I could easily say 200$/day.

UPDATE: Only 1-2 articles and all tags are indexed so far. Each blog has 10 articles per day. Yesterday was the first day and right now blogs have 5-6 articles. I'm kind of worried why the articles are not indexed. I might have done something wrong with YOAST. We'll see. By the way, I got 2 visitors on 1st blog. Both were Google bot.

This is interesting. I'm curious about what your results will be.

You're basically overloading G with content. I had some experience in this years ago. Per post, you don't get shit for traffic, but when you have 10k posts the numbers add up.

My only opinion/advice would be to spam the ads on the site. My visitors would be overwhelmed with huge Adsense banners above the fold, with CPA/clickbank/etc links on the sidebar. I would be trying to squeeze every penny I could out of the visitors. It's not like you are going to get repeat visitors with crap articles, so you have to get what you can out of them on the first go.

    Good luck op!
