Hi everyone, could someone tell/teach me how to transfer the whole business to it's new owner? If I could transfer the domain does that mean that the whole content too are also transferred to the new owner? Any tips and information about this would be very helpful and could give you some ratings.

Thanks!

Harold

I am not sure if they would or not. Never tried. It isn't really that hard to transfer the files. Also most good hosts will do it for you.

Also you should find some advice to set up a written agreement / contract. What's included and what's not, etc.
Better to define this before, than after in front of a court/arbitration/whatever.

Most cpanel-based hosts have a "full account backup" option. If the business site you sold is the only site hosted, you can just dump it all and send them a big ZIP file.

If you have other sites hosted on the same cpanel, don't do this as your other passwords and configs will go with it.

If you are talking about transferring an online business, specifically a website offering products or services, here's what you need to follow if it's a WordPress site. (Or this is what I do, at least.)

1. Always do a backup of your files from cpanel.
2. You can use a free plugin like UpDraft Plus (This is not mine. I'm not in any way related to the maker also. I just use it often.) You can easily transfer the site to another as long as both plugins are installed.
3. Transfer the domain by giving the auth code to the new owner. Have him request the domain to transfer.
4. Once succesful, install the same plugin and restore the backup files.

If ever it fails, which rarely happens, you still have the first backup you made and just restore it manually. :)
