So I run a MP3 download website, I won't provide any names here how ever I can confirm that when I do site:mydomain in my url bar that it does display (14,000) results for my website.

Here's a screen shot of what happened.

Now, I'm not 1000% sure what the cause of this could be, but I'm thinking it has something to do with copyright infringement taking my domain and running away with it in terms of googles eyes.

What' im wondering here is there any alternative ways to achieving my rankings back? Could I potentially 301 my site to a new domain, and potentially restore those rankings? Any help is beyond appreciated.

This looks like a penalty, to be honest. Do you have any strong rankings that you can check to see if they still stick ? I went through something similar not long ago with a content blog. Didn`t quite recover yet, rankings just went down and never came back :) I tried to build all kinds of authority links, nothing brought it back :)

Even when I search the actual site name, just the NAME which I'm the only site in the world with this name in any format when I started the site it had legit 0 results.

I am now in 9th place, I;m certain this is a penalty. If I can 301 redirect the site, you think this will help?

I`ve done a couple of redirects in my days, the rankings will return in part.. but sooner or later the penalty will catch up and you will lose rankings again.. So that isn`t something I`d do..

For MP3 Download sites, you're gonna lose the domain at some point anyway. I was just wondering if 301 redirecting the site would in return restore my rankings in google, even if it be just for a couple months at a time.

I can t say how much it lasts.. rankings usually return, yes.. though google has messed a little with the time it take for rankings to return
