I've found a keyword in google trends that gets a good number of searches. The first and the second ranked websites on that keyword have around 600 and 500 backlinks each. (AKA good niche?)

If I bought a good domain that has the keyword, then bought a lot of backlinks to my domain. Would I be able to make it to the first page at least?

Is $5 for 5000 backlink a scam or a good price?

All I have is an SEO checklist(relevant domain name, relevant title, backlinks etc...), I am not allowed to post the link to it here but it's pretty much what I know about SEOing.

If it isn't, where I can read more about SEO and their techniques?

Thanks in advance, I would really appreciate any help.

Did you check for exact searches?
keyword from google trends = it's probably just hot now.
And if 5$ for 5000 blog comments with sb, probably not worth and you also need to diverse your links to make it more natural in google's eyes.

$5 for 5000 links is not a scam but they will likely be very low value links. You may also get sandboxed in Google if you get too many links to quickly and then only a few links after the initial blast. Make sure you plan out a natural looking link profile and velocity.

Judging a keyword based on the backlinks of the top 2 ranked keywords is not a very in-depth analysis on the competition lol.

Check it with the free version of traffic travis atleast and post the screenshot here and I will analyze the competition for you. You may want to blur out the domains incase it reveals your keyword though :p

    Home Page:
    1.Get the EMD
    2.install wordpress
    3.add necessary plugins(all in one SEO ,google analytics,damnsexybookmark,XML sitemap,SEO pressor..etc).
4.Add content of 500+ words with good on page SEO.
4.wait for it to get indexed.
    5.start building backlinks .

I did till step 4 and i am already in page 2 for the specific search term.
    Good luck with that.

For a real website I highly question the wisedom of doing this. Sure if you're just running a cash cow... but we have no idea what kind of site he wants to run. Could be an ecommerce site for perfume... and I know this much, the best on-site seo can't be done with two clicks of a plugin.

Well I still can not post screenshots or URL. But the keyword was
"facebook status" (Yea I know >.<)

And according to traffic travis, it gave it a very difficult rating. (not really sure based on what)
They other keyword was "Razer blade". Traffic travis gave it a 4/5 "relatively easy".

And is theres an alternative to google trends where I can come up with keyword and later research them?

And instead of a blog and articles, I am thinking of starting a forum. As it doesn't need freelancers/articles and it pretty much only needs moderation when it gets running.
