Ive had my site at the top of Google for 3 months now and the sale are coming in nicely. However I am nervous that my competitors may knock me off somehow. Is there anything I can do to solidify the results? Or do I continue the standard stuf like back links, linkwheels and blogging?

Whatever you have been doing, keep doing it.
That's pretty much what I was going to say, whatever you appear to be doing, is obviously working, of course other web masters are going to want to and almost definitly try to knock your website off the top of Google, the reason so many websites go to the top, then drop right back down to the back of Google, is because once the owner has got their site to the top of Google, they simply stop caring about that ranking.

I suggest you try to rank for other keywords as well, including long-tail keywords, which can be a gold mine depending on your niche and your long-tail keywords, you might also want to look into miss-spelled keywords, I've heard they can also be a gold mine depending on how much detail you go into them.

While your building up back links for your other pages within your blog (Don't just gain back links to your index page) - I suggest you carry on with link building, link wheels and generally running your website.

Good lucck :)

Mind telling us generally what you're doing that seem to be working? Of course, anyone who's been here more than an hour knows about using backlinks, article links, Angela's packets, etc. (jeez, seems like it's all about the links now).

But still, I'm always interested in REAL WORLD results and how they came about.

I'm not asking for your actual links, just what generally you have been doing to get yourself to the Big G 1.

Also, are you ranking for a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeallly long tail keyword, or one more terse (for example "left-handed lithuanian red-haired weight loss" versus "quick weight loss")? Again, not asking you to disclose your keywords, just their type.

Thanks! :D

Well you could act really Blackhat and get your competitors sandboxed or banned with a few blasts from Xrumer. Unless they have a really good and solid SEO on their site, you should eliminate your competition :D.

Otherwise, keep up the good work, do some analysis and find out what works for you, so you can scale it up. Good luck ;)

the keyword is 3 words long, so not massive. Its maybe different to what you guys are doing but the site i am promoting is my own site selling my own product.

Main things are backlinks (angelas & pauls) then social bookmarking the backlinks. linkwheels lots of them and for my sub pages, daily blogging. thats it really. O and some yahoo answers which i have also social bookmarked

Try getting backlinks from .EDU Blogs and Forums and you will be Safe for many years to come buddy ;)

I have read somewhere that you can build your own linking netword using your own domains on different servers. I am thinking about doing this.

Anyone read this or is their a ebook floating around?

Personally... why stop at 1 link on page 1.... I don't feel I have a hold on page 1 unless I get 5-8 links on the first page with only 1-2 of them being ppc spots.

If you organically hit page one then you can get a real cheap ppc on the same search because the relevance is already so high... just be sensible about your ad text and landing page content so it is all aligned and you'll get $0.05 - $0.15 clicks while other are paying $0.50 - $1.00... But I guess it all depends on your profit margin and conversion rates as to wether it is worthwhile... in my space I'll buy every click I can get...

Find a niche like that and Google sends you one of these mini fridges for free!

True. Why not work on some of your inner pages to get them ranking just as high and dominate more of whatever niche you're working in? If a competitor happens to outdo one, they likely aren't going to knock 'em all out of the way in one swing!
