    Hello Guyz, can you let me know which freelance marketplace is best for a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Company? I ask this because usually websites like Freelancer, ODesk, Elance, allows non-US citizen to work as freelancers as well, I would be interested to know the websites which allows freelancers only from USA.

    I think the very thing that online freelancing achieves is to equalize all workers access to work - what you're really looking for is the protectionism that was afforded to workers in the 'old world' where workers who were willing to work for less were vigorously kept away by immigration officials in order to drive up the earnings of local workers (and thereby, of course, drive up costs).

    Not a personal attack on you at all, of course - just an idle observation :)

    Now for the helpful part of my reply - websites like microworkers.com allow employers to select countries from which they will accept workers. Perhaps check them out :)

    Okay, Let me Rephrase the Question.. What is the best source of finding Website Design/Development work for an Individual or Company based in USA? This includes eLance, Freelancer, etc . But we can not ignore the fact that Freelancers physically available in USA do receive higher rates for work, as compared to freelancers working in Other countries. For instance, I have heard that Craigslist is a great source of finding freelance work for Freelancers in USA. Is that correct? I would also like to let you know that this question is not for me, but for someone really living in USA. Hope I am a bit clear now?

    Do they? If that was the case, would there be a need to post your OP? I suggest freelancing is a pretty labor-equal market now, where everyone gets paid according to their ability, rather than location.

    In an ideal world I am sure that would be true. The truth is that places like the Philippines are great for agencies and people that outsource because they are "cheap" in comparison.
    There's nothing wrong with that though, it's all relative to where someone lives - 300 US a month over there is not too shabby- especially since half of them live 10 to a house, and all share expenses/rent etc.

    It's just business...they have a job and make money, outsourcers also make money...just like any employer/employee relationship in the offline world.

    I don't think many people will post their sources for a couple of reasons including the fact that some of the names are censored by bhw for whatever reason

    Two things here;
    a) You're talking about agencies and employers/employees, I'm talking about freelancers, and,
    b) You're exactly right - countries like the Philippines are supplying plenty of freelancers to the world and making my point for me - everyone gets paid according to their skill, not their location. If you're US based and want to get paid more than someone in the Philippines, you damn well have better skills, because it's not 1982 anymore!

    So when the Philippines is 'cheap in comparison', the US based workers stop getting the work, and therefore the Philippines prices becomes normal and the US price becomes extinct. And that, I suspect, is the problem facing the OP, hence he/she posted what they did.
