    Hi guys

I get the feeling there are some plugins around that are able to tell you where your visitors are coming from, such as Google, Twitter, Facebook etc. but I don't know the name of any. Could someone help me out?

    Thanks.
    Steve.

You should buy Mint - google for "mint statistics". You can get it for free if you have your own ways of obtaining it.

I use it on all my websites and it tells me where all my visitors are coming from and what people are searching on google to find my website(s).

this one seems to be getting results ... though if there is a lot of
traffic at the same time, it may miss a few.
    Code:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-referrers/
I have NOT upgraded to wp 3.0 still on 2.9.2 ... have to make a
'donkey' blog to test out various plugins ... though I do not think
that many plugs will 'break' under 3.0 (if the WP gang is correct!)

    R-

ps- found THIS when I went for the link above
    Code:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-analyticator
looks about 200% better, tested in 3.0, just links into your G-analytics account. so min load on your hosting

I agree that you should use Mint, but if you look carefully on BHW you will find it ;)

Piwik was recommended here and looks like a good alternative.

I used Statpress but have deactivated it at all my sites because i have read that it takes a lot of ressources. You might want to check that out, if you have multiple domains on a shared hosting service.

I use a wordpress plugin called Wassup, its got a nice little web based GUI that shows you how many visitors you've had, where they came from, ip, etc etc etc. Very easy to install and use.

    Code:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wassup/

Have you tried just using google's analytics. That should work just fine they tell you where everyone is coming from.

google analytics, statcounter was my favorite before, probably because it is not so complex, but I am now moving my sites tracking over to analytics, it provides more information and it's free. And hey, google probably likes sites that use their services more anyway :)
