The NFL decided it felt like suspending Tom Brady even though there was no legit reason to do so and no proof to back up the claims of deflate-gate.

Hopefully he sues the NFL and wins a big payout.

I guess he'll have to save for his new lambo at another time.

The suspension is nothing compared to the Pats getting a million dollar fine and losing their first rounder next year and another draft pick (4th or 5th round) in 2017.

he should be suspended for four seasons more like it, as well as fining and losing all draft picks.

He's guilty in the public opinion court . No facts were ever presented that he participated or knew at the time something was going on. His only proven wrongdoing is failure to give those investigators his cell phone records. That's what the report is clear on.
He will probably appeal and get it down to 2 games or none.

The NFL did the same thing but worse with Sean Payton, there was no proof he was involved in the bountygate yet they still suspended him for 1 year.

I've been expecting this for a couple of weeks now. The NFL could have made this go away months ago if they had wanted to. It's definitely because of those cell phone records. I'm in New England and have to admit that looks pretty damn shady. Just hoping it lights a fire under his ass. The only thing that gets me about it is guys get 2 games for head shots. If it was another team (with a different history), it surely would have been less games.

Ummm... it's just a game. He throws a ball to someone and they catch it.

And he still feels the need to cheat with such a basic meaningless job.

He should quit and volunteer to teach children how to read or feed the homeless.

It's much more than just a game and just a job when you're making millions of dollars and there are bonuses, contracts, and fame on the line

They dragged the report release for so long on purpose - now is a pretty slow time for the NFL and keeps the people's attention on the league. Great marketing move.
The cell phones records and the total lack of any evidence makes this even more juicy - everybody with a sports blog LOVES this story ( = more traffic) and hopes it drags for weeks and month. Will be even better if he does get a lawyer and sue - from what we know so far the NFL has no real evidence against him . More controversy = more money for us

There was no proof he cheated or anyone cheated, just accusations.

"For no reason"? SMH. Tom Brady was SIGNING autographed balls and shoes in return for DEEEEFLAAAAATED BALLS.

Those texts were incriminating as hell. And the NFL owns Brady's ass.

They did their little investigation, used some common sense and did exactly what needed to be done.

Brady was leveraging his authority to be slick, circumvent the rules, wasn't candid or cooperative at all during the investigation. They should have suspended his ass for the entire season for being such a little bitch. Seriously. Fuck Brady and his pussy little fingers. He wanted the balls down to 11 PSI. Some even said they were as low as 10.5 PSI.

But even at 11 PSI / 5 fingers = 2.2 pounds per finger.

When his competitors were playing at 2.6 pounds per finger.

He had almost a half a pound advantage per finger. Just think about that. We know in marketing how a small change in conversions can have a massive influence on ROI.

And the NFL want's to act like that wouldn't change the outcome of a game but anyone with half a brain knows that bullshit. If it's not gonna influence the outcome then WHY set PSI regulations at all? WHY set regulations in any sport?

I'll tell you why. Cause Tom Brady is a fucking cheater. :)

In my opinion he shouldn't have deflated the football.

The balls being deflated don't mean anything if it worked so great shouldn't he have been able to do 8/9 TD passes a game?

What I hate is they fired both the ball boys (no extra pay) and threw them under the bus and said it was all there fault and NO one on the team knew about it. Seriously I don't think these kids getting paid 30k a year to fill balls in the NFL would deflate the balls to an illegal level without being told by the 9 million a year qb that can say one thing to get you fired

    Texts by Brady...

    brady: "you good johnny boy?"

ball boy: "still nervous so far so good through. i'll be alright "

Tom: "you didn't do anything wrong bud"

ball boy: "i know , i'll be good"

These texts went on while the ball was missing -_-..

He than said he plays by the rules and would never think of cheating. How long was he doing this for did he do it when they won 35-31 against Baltimore seems like the ball would give an advantage in that win which got them to the finals. I asked a few friends who are even hardcore Brady fans and they said they lost a lot of respect for him. Cheating is cheating they should not get the Superbowl..

Yeh... cause 3 million dollars "doesn't mean anything" lol.

Any amateur QB can tell you a deflated ball makes it more pliable, easier to handle and throw. It doesn't just give you an advantage during wet weather. It gives you an advantage when it's hot as balls outside and your team is sweating and getting body oil all over the ball. Then worse, your opponents ball has the same sweat and oil but it's overpressurized from the heat, tight as hell and your ball has a surface like play dough.

Good grip is important in sports. Why do powerlifters & Olympians rub their hands in chalk? Why do pitchers get muddy balls? Why do golfers spray their clubs with grip? If it has such a nominal effect we should just spray the balls with oil so they're nice and shiny.

Some people think the penalty was "ludicrous" and so do I. I think their superbowl win should be revoked and the trophy handed over to the Seahawks. :D

Seems like the Patriots live by the adage...."If your not cheating, you're not trying"

The Patriots won fairly, they have never cheated just did what every other team. The NFL just hates the patriots and fans.

The Patriots definitely won fairly and were the best team no doubt (perhaps not in the Baltimore game depending on how you look at it), but what Brady did was clearly against the rules. It is written clearly and he broke the rules. This reminds me of the whole Josh Gordon ordeal last season. "But he tested positive from secondhand smoke and and the levels were so minute that he shouldn't be suspended", well he still broke the damn rules multiple times and deserved his suspension. I think 4 games is a very fair punishment, but it will probably go down to 2 games after he appeals.

This is not a strict punishment and we ALL know that he is guilty. You're blind or lying to yourself if you don't think he wasn't the direct and sole reason why the balls were clearly deflated :)

I think it was a bit harsh even if he did cheat. I mean, the ball still had to be thrown and caught. Punishment? Sure. The draft picks are a bit much
