I think that is kind of general question, but the answers can be different.
I believe everything depends on the typing skills and the topic (knowledge in the certain area).

might not be the answer you're looking for but from my own experience and hearing from others in this industry, it's more effective to hire two part-time writers than one full-time writer. After writing for more than three to four hours your output will decrease.

to answer your question: about 500-1000 words per hour

Hi. In my case the best was 400 words/h with some research before about the topic. I may not be the best at all but I try.....

You should measure and pay for quality of words not volume of words, as ultimately that is what matters as a well written piece will aid sales not just ranking.

Otherwise it is like thinking a book with more pages is better quality than a book with fewer pages.

Then, like anything in life, you should set your budget based on buying the best you can afford.

Thanks for your inputs. So based on your replies, I can say that 1000 words per hr is quite achievable. Ofcourse quality is utmost important, I just wanted to get a rough idea to know what to expect from my writer.

It depends on multiple factors:
1. knowledge of the writer
2. Mood of writer
3. need of hour
4. number of keywords
5. length of article
Generally, one can easily write about 500 words an hour despite any topic or mood or so condition.

Manually, I can write 500 words per hour, (and I'm a native English speaker,) but when I'm doing social media, forum responses, or books, I tend to dictate.

Think of it this way.

Most people speak at a rate of 150 words per minute.

In the span of an hour, this translates to 9000 words.

Manually speaking, if you're going to type all this out, at best you'd be lucky to maybe get 500 words per hour.

How come?

Well, when you're typing manually, you're constantly editing yourself.

When you're talking on the other hand, once the words get out of your mouth, you're done.

You can move on to the next step.

That's why I love dictation-based content creation when it comes to social media, writing books, and similar types of content where free-flowing information is not only tolerated but encouraged.

In fact, I'm going to be repurposing some of my raw audio dictations into YouTube videos.

Stay tuned for that!

The key is to create content once, but make money many times in many different ways from it.
