    Hi,

I have made my money recently via offline marketing with local business helping them out online.

I now would liek to offer a coaching service online to help people get started with online marketing and make a bit of money. I have only manged to find one client for this.

The reason I want to do this is because I really enjoy helping and working with people.

Has anybody got any tips on advertising this sort of business?

Yeah don't represent your self as an online marketing coach if you don't know what you are talking about.

How do you have any clue that I don't know what I'm talking about.

Advertising a service like this is completely different to advertising an ebook or CPA offer. All my offline client where picked up using cold calling or going in the business itself I then successfully got them online and marketed there site with 100% satisfaction rate.

All I am asking for is a few tips I didn't however ask for a sarcastic comment which is of no help or amusement to anybody.

My business is a consultancy company. We work on enhancing peoples site hence boosting conversion rates and advertising their business online via several methods, mainly using SEO.

Maybe a worded the question wrong. I am not asking if someone will help me get a site listed I was basically wondering if their was a set forum or website that lets people advertise this sort of service and would help me generate converting leads.

Obviously people would rather just be sarcastic.

I agree and I should have been more specific and not have directed that toward you. What I should have said is I'm tired of people calling themselves "gurus" and "coaches" before they are qualified. If you have a successful business offering businesses help getting online I don't see how that relates to "online marketing." IMHO they are completely separate skill sets to master. If someone is truly successful at internet marketing people will be contacting you for coaching. The guru / coaching business should start when 20 people are begging your for your advice. Sorry for the short response earlier, it just makes me puke in my mouth when I think of another self proclaimed guru out there cheapening the industry.

Lee I think the reason for the sarcasm is the irony that we all must acknowledge in your request for tips on marketing your service, when you are positioning yourself as a marketing expert. Obviously as an expert you should be the one with all the answers.

That said, the forum is a vast resource, and if you hang out and poke around you are bound to come across some ideas you might not have had otherwise, so I encourage you to browse around.

Also, as a marketer you should be familiar with some market research proceses- this is exactly what you should be doing. As a high ticket service provider you aren't likely to succeed competing with the big names in the "IM" world, so the heavily beaten paths are not going to be your main sources of business.

My personal suggestion would be to focus your research efforts on finding an untapped market. Those familiar with IM are pretty numb by now and it takes either something REALLY special, or REALLY e-mailed to launch well.

On the other hand, alot of the Offline stuff out there is a) rehashed, or b) detailed on the technology and vague on the strategy. If you were able to publish a detailed case study that people could actually learn from, you might immediately set yourself apart and actually pick up some coaching clients on the upsell.

    Not a bad idea.

I don't know what your skill set is, but I was going to suggest that you don't be a seo "guy". There are a million and one people peddling seo and you'll get lost in the crowd. Stand out by providing value beyond seo. There's an offline marketing subforum here, but it's pretty quiet.

I believe the best way to promote yourself is "offline". You should be your first client. Promoting yourself will give you the skills to do it for others. I highly recommend Jay Abahram's stuff. It's really great. Some of it is available here on the forum. Others like Dan Kennedy. Some of his stuff is available here too. It really depends on your preference.

Beezee's case study idea is great. Publish it. Get some local press. Make yourself the local authority.
