So, a competitor just outranked me on google and I think it's because they recently publish a article on some sites.

I've never done that (I use use social bookmarking, blog comments sometimes).

So I'm a complete noob.... I have an article related to my site ready to use (I was planning on putting this artxle on my site though :/ )

So what do i do ?

Do I publish the same article on many sites and put at the end : go to _____ for more info ? (how Many sites is too many - want to keep it whitehat)

Or do I put the article on my site then publish it on other sites (then it's not unique though is it ?)

I really don't know where to begin with this but I have to do it otherwise I'm not going to beat my new competitor.

    Thanks for reading.

    Thanks,will do.

It's just that I don't know where to draw the line with spamming cos that won't help me rank better.

And I can't do a unique article for every site I submit it to :S

I've done a bit of research and it seems that every article you post should be 30-50% unique compared to your original.

This doesn't seem easy at all.

Should I just post my current articles that are on my site to ezinearticles ? Would that help ?

Spin your articles and post the spinned versions. Get the best spinner, i think its shared here, so you can get it for free. Go to youtube for tutorials, about how to use it.

Eh no. Keep the flagships on your site. Use the spun BS on the web 2.0s

    Thanks for the replies.

If I spin it won't the quality of the article be reduced a lot ? Does it not make that much difference when submitting to article directories ?

This is my only site making decent money so really don't want to mess it up.....I want to do it right.

    Thank you

Well it's always better to experiment with disposable sites but here's the theory:
Yes the quality will be reduced but search engines can't tell the difference. Esp. G still relies on backlinks. If the texts with the backlinks are loosely based on the same topic you get a bonus. If these texts are also unique, you get another bonus. Determining whether it's actually human quality or not is still beyond any search engine (otherwise no tricks would be working).

Now since your site can be reviewed manually and since it is nice to offer quality to your readers, it is best to have top notch texts there. Your submitted articles can be manually reviewed too of course but it could be your competitor who put them there so it would be unfair to punish you. And the directories themselves simply want unique content to suck on stray long tails (it's quantity over quality for them).

Thanks for that, I understand it a bit more now.

I've always wanted to keep this site 100% whitehat but it seems nearly impossible to do this with article marketing :(

    Is this a good idea ? :

Publish article on my own site

Then publish the same article on ezinearticles

After this, spin article to 50% and submit to other another popular site

    Spin again, another site

    Etc etc ?

    Thanks

You can spin in a way to ensure that the articles are better. It takes more time, but it will be worth it.

Try to aim for at least 60%

So even if the articles are hard to read for humans I should still use it ?

I doubt my article would make sense when spinned to around 60%.

If you post the same article on 2 sites, the site with more, ahem, trust will be ranked higher. In case you are wondering, search engines don't have a way to reliably tell who posted what and where. If you upload 'abc' to your site and to ezine, chances are your site will be ignored because it is effectively duplicate content.

    Ah ok :)

So I have to spin the article for ezinearticles as well then....and obviously they are stricter than other sites so make sure it's quality is high enough.

Frankly I think this whole article crap is a waste of time. But I didn't mind explaining the theory because backlinks still work great. It's just that articles require a lot of time to get them up: spinning, waiting for approval... and it seems G started to dislike most of the big article players.

Why don't you try with links in blog posts instead? Or forum profiles. Either use fiverr or some service from here for little cash and see where that leads you.

I thought articles would be a waste of time too. But a competitor (checked their backlinks) has recently got a few backlinks from articles and now all of a sudden ranks above me even though my site has more content and better content!

So it's got me thinking that maybe I should do the same to outrank them.

I've tried blog commenting, but found it hard to get do follow blogs related to my niche ( life insurance).

I only used fiverr to get backlinks(xrumer) on my new site as I'm kind of scared using it with my money making site, that might sound stupid but it's just the way I think.

Just Submitted an article to ezinearticles - hope it gets accepted.

Now what's next ? Do the same to other sites ?

I tried using spinnerchief but it was terrible so spinned it my self.

Could anyone point me to the best spinner in the download section ?

Searched but couldn't find it but I'm on my mobile phone so maybe that's why :/

    Thanks

Quick question, should I ping my articles on something like ping farm ?

Or even just ping some of them to make it more natural looking?

    Good news :

I've now got my spot back, outranked the site that went above me
    Just 3/4 days ago.

Putting in that bit of time really did help from submitting articles, social bookmarking etc - all White hat.

Learned a lesson as well, you have to keep up the hard work to rank well.

    Happy :D
