TIM FERRISS- Your thoughts on this Charlatan please!

Tim Ferriss is fucking badass. I read his book years ago and opened up my eyes to some systems I didn't know about. Is there any "guru" that is legitimate? This guy gives you ideas on how to automate your business, improve your diet(slow carb diet), how to increase your learning time on learning new languages, how to improve your swimming lap times, mini-retirements.

Which "guru" has taught any fucking thing on mini-retirements? There is countless $69 courses that teach you dick compared to Tim's $15 book. He must be lying though, Ive only seen the videos with him and Kevin Rose(what a loser), only a loser would hang with the creator of Digg.

So if Tim is trash, then who else is teaching how to change your business, your health, and your LIFE. Give me one example of one guru that hits these three points, with more information abundance so I can learn from him too.

And if you read his books, it's almost all evidence. He has case study after case study and tracks everything; I think it's hard to refute what he's done.

Instead of bashing, why not actually go out and give it a try (read the book first).

Englandrm. I agree, however my point is that he has NO evidence. I'm yet to see any real proof. I have read his books from cover to cover, his evidence is refuted everywhere I look. They are HIS case studies, all I'm looking for is simple independent verification for his activities, not because I initially wanted to bash the guy, infact I thoroughly enjoyed reading most of his material however what angers me is the possibility that it's all made up. If even 5% of what he said in the 4 Hour Body was proven by the scientific community to be absolutely correct then that would literally change the lives of millions of people. Have all these dedicated lifelong body builders been spending every waking hour in the gym when as Tim says, it's completely unnecessary? Think, if his work on the body were true, what it would do for sports men and women around the world, we would see a massive paradigm shift in the physical and mental abilities of humans worldwide. It ain't happening. Why? Not because it's impossible, it just ain't happening the way he says it should, and why is that? Because it's BS. Infact, that is why I get angry at this, I would love nothing more than to be proved wrong because this would mean incredible things are possible, but until this happens I'm going to continue to dismiss this guy as a complete fake.

You sound like you are someone searching for a "guru", I couldn't tell you who else you can learn from. You should really be asking, who Tim Ferriss learned from. One good thing about the guy is, he learned all this stuff himself, repackaged it and sold it on to the massive in beautifully wrapped bitesize chunks. There are millions of books that teach you how to do all these things, he has simply crystalized these ideas and put them into one easy to swallow format. Nothing new, but the danger lies in the fact that SOME of the things he teaches you to do are touched on so lightly that people don't get the full story and could suffer as a result of not knowing the potential consequences. Videos with Kevin Rose? Cool, wish I had known about these clips ages ago I would have built a statue in my living room to commemorate this great meeting of minds.

I'm not searching for a guru I'm trying to find out, since he's so bad and all, who I should be learning from. Donald Trump, Bill Gates, yea they are big time, but they don't teach you how to better your body or improve the quality of your life. If people don't further their research into his ideas before implementing in real life, then these types of people will fall for about anything, not just what Tim Ferriss is saying. There's countless WSO's and scheme's that are sold that cost more and deliver a small percentage compared to what Tim offers and they charge you more. So I'm trying to figure out why he's such the bad guy? Did he ruin your life, idk so Im just asking.

Yea Kevin Rose and Tim getting together to collab is trash, they only made multimillions of dollars from nothing in their short time on earth. For you to trash on them, you must have made substantially more money than them. If you have accomplished more than them, I will eat my own words. If not, nothing I can say will change the mind of a hater, so good luck in your life of hate.

I'm trashing the fact that you think that simply because Tim appeared in a video clip with Kevin Rose it somehow validates his position as some kind of leading guru. I'm not a hater. I seek the truth that's all.

Tim Ferriss has suggested certain things that I found to be brilliant and incredibly helpful, however, he has been called out on MANY of his so called claims. Some of which could really cause people harm.I'm not going to list them. Do your own research. It's all freely available throughout this thread and elsewhere online. I don't hate the guy, not in the slightest, I'm saying he's a charlatan, like the millions that have gone before him, his brilliance lies in self promotion (which we certainly CAN learn alot from) The rest unfortunately, is nonsense.

Ha, that show with Kevin Rose is called "The Random Show." It's quite funny, and you hear them talk about their businesses, and cool updates in the tech world. Digg is gigantic, and is definitely considered a success. When you surround yourself with successful people, it's bound to rub off on you. Look at the companies he's involved with, he is the "real" deal.

As for proof of the 4HB working, head to his twitter. Look at how many people tweet actual before and after photos to him, with absolutely no incentive (besides the potential re-tweet).

And there's nothing in his book that can't be done. If there is, please point it out.

He applies the 80/20 rule (pareto's law) to everything. If you can get 80 percent of the results, with 20 percent of the effort; is there even a reason to put the remaining 80% of the effort in. It's the principle behind it where the value lies. It's all about being more effective.

Guys - knock off the insults - it makes you look like children.

I've read this book many many times. Its an exceptional read, highly motivational and eye opening.

The function of a 'guru' is to inspire you to make changes in your work/life. Its a common mistake to attempt to duplicate a system fully, it may work for him, but you are different. Whats wrong with a 5 hour working week....

Tim Ferris provided a really nice framework into which to implement your own system. I dont credit him with my own experience, however he was one of the pushes that moved me from working 18 hour days and rapidly approaching a heart attack in my 30s - to working around my social life and making 10x more money for 10x less effort.

You cant call someone a scammer for sharing their story. Its your lack of adaptability and lateral thinking that prevent you from doing anything other than slavishly following a system without an overall understanding of the environment in which the system resides. This caused the fail, nothing else.

I've read 4HWW and 4HB.
As I've not been in a position to need to implement 4HWW's delegating styles, it still helped with a mindset change.
As for the 4HB, I tried it for a month and I gained 6kg's (13.2lbs). This was a total of 45 minutes of workout time, I later calculated as I only partook in 2 exercises per session. I'm going to gain 10kg's when I next attempt it by instilling more workouts..
I love his teachings. Yes, they're rehashed from older writings and reports, but thanks to him, I found them.

I didn't try to model my business after his business but his thinking has certainly influenced my life and business for the better. I could see how you might think he was a scammer if you tried to recreate his business.

I am a stay at home mom of 4 (soon to be 5) so dancing in Argentina and a lot of the rest of his lifestyle ideas are not exactly for me.

But for me personally, I felt like I needed permission to outsource all the things in my life that I don't enjoy. I grew up with the idea that paying others to do something that you could do yourself was wasteful. Now I feel like not outsourcing is wasting your time and your life. I have Tim Ferris to thank for that.

Yeah, I think the idea is not to copy Tim's lifestyle, but to think of the box and "hack" your way towards your goals, because TIME is the most valuable commodity- not money. Though money is still valuable.

One thing is for certain, his techniques on outsourcing are/were dead on. The issue was, by the time I read his book in 09??? I had already started doing the outsourcing bit. He had other tidbits that were true in terms of what you could do to automate your business, so in that regard, he could not be a "fake" by definition of the word. Though, he does "stretch" the truth to an extent. There was one such story, I do forget which, but he won some type of tournament/match/dance, etc but he does not mention that it was due to a technicality. That's like me saying that my team won the championship, we never allowed a score from the opponent....yet when you read the asterisk, you find that the other team never showed for some reason.

As far as his 34lb of muscle in 30 days: Having been in the field of diet and nutrition/bodybuilding for over 12 years, I can say, without a doubt that the title is basically marketing. Can a person gain 34lbs of muscle in 30 days? Technically someone can come close if you have de-conditioned your body for 6 months or so.

For instance, when I was 23, I weighed around 205, 13%bf, 5'11. I had a bout with depression, took 1 year off from lifting and dropped to about 175, 18%bf. Once I started back lifting/exercising (14 months later), I quickly regained most of my size. In about 6 weeks, I had recovered to around 196, 15%bf(or something like that). If I wanted to I could have tossed a webpage up that said "How I gained 21lbs of muscle in 6 weeks". Technically I did, but actually, I did not. I only gained from muscle memory...and, i had about 6.5 years of training under my belt before I lost all my size/weight due to depression. The normal joe jumping off of the couch whom has never trained before would kill himself/herself trying to achieve even my body formation.

I've dealt with individuals that were "chemically" enhanced that have not gained near 34lbs of pure muscle in 30 days. SOME muscle and SOME fat, with SOME glycogen, yes, 100% muscle, impossible. His before and after pics looks as someone that REGAINED size after losing it and put on 34lbs overall.

So, overall, he does give some good advice, which when put to test, proves itself to be true. Yet, he also leaves out vital information that would explain many of the other unbelievable feats that he has pulled off.

He, like many other gurus, must be taken with a grain of salt. He is no "liar" so-to speak. He just conveniently puts you on a "need to know" basis.

I read Tim Ferris books and was inspired. I was coming off working in my own business over 60 hours per week and getting adrenal fatigue. The concept of making money online appealed to me. I also liked the idea that I could write articles about things I was interested in.

Tim likes to make it all sound so simple. He is a fast talker. He could sell whale blubber to an Eskimo.

I agree that his philosophy on life is good. He did not want to work 60-80 hours per week and then drop dead right before he retired. There is some value in what he says on this.

However, to act like it is so simple to make money online is ridiculous. He tries to make it look like if you do not do it easily, you are stupid.

If you were a genius, like he is, you could do the same thing. We all know that most people never make a living online. Most people quit before they figure it out.

I agree it is dangerous to write books that imply that following his theory is easy.

He also wrote an update of his first book that I could not find any new content in. He marketed it as having a lot of new, updated content... That was a scam to me. He just wanted to sell another new book to his followers.
