Some have been saying that TikTok may overtake Instagram, so I thought this post may be useful to some. If you don't know, the "For You" page is a lot similar to Instagram's Explore page and YouTube's recommendation system. In fact, it works a lot like YouTube's system. I have done some research on how TikTok's are recommended in the For You page, and I have noticed a pattern. When you post a video to TikTok, they will randomly & temporarily put you on the For You page and give you around 300-500 views. They use this data in order to determine whether you will put into the For You page again. There are 2 factors on whether they will put you on the For You page again: Watch time, and the completion rate. Essentially, you want to make short content that will encourage the viewer to keep watching until the end, AKA an open loop. If you do manage to get good watch time and completion rate, then you will be put into the For You page again. Over and over. Until your completion rate & watch time dwindles. It also helps if you have loyal fans which you can get with follow/unfollow. There is a video version of this on YouTube that explains the same thing I do here, go check it out. His name is 李俊超. I hope this post was of help to any of you guys. If you have any more questions, just reply to this thread. Anyways, cya!
