Will three-way link exchanges get Google's attention and be penalized?

You should be fine as long as you are not making it too obviously.

Maybe spread the publishing date accross 1-2 weeks.

You should be very careful with the number of times you use your anchor texts. If you consistently link to the same anchor text throughout the article, Google may review it as keyword stuffing, which can negatively affect your SEO

I usually only insert a link to my website in articles. Is it possible to use the same anchor text for links from different websites?
