I am not new to social network marketing, but I haven't done it in a while and I was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to answer a few simple questions. These questions are mostly for those promoting on MySpace and FaceBook (or any other considerably LARGE social network site).

    (1) Do you promote from a VPS, dedicated server, or your home PC?
    (2) Do you promote CPA offers?
    (3) Do you use custom or public software?

I am not asking for you to go into any detail with your answers. A simple yes or no would be fine for all three questions.

    Thanks in advance!

if any one can tell how we can increase mp3 sale or album sale through myspace or facebook, it will be a great help.

I am trying all these things from last 2 years, but i am not able to get a good amount of sale through myspace or facebook regarding album or music.

What are your methods of promotion? Such as messages, friend requests, comments, groups, etc.?

If you give me more info, I will be glad to help you out as much as I can with some suggestions.

If anyone else would care to give a yes/no answer to the three questions above, feel free! It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

@ Rebelian: I appreciate your suggestions with the public software, but I do not use public software. I am a programmer, and I code my own custom software (winsock asynchronous multi-threads, no browser).

I am just trying to get a feel for what is going on with today's current promotion on the big social networks. Thanks anyway, and most importantly, thanks for your responses! :)

WOW! 60,000 friends! If you are trying to promote MP3 or album sales through MySpace, your conversion rate is going to solely depend on the quality of the MP3s and the album you are promoting. With many celebrity artists dominating MySpace, unless you have some really good musical content to offer, this is going to be a very hard niche to dominate IMO.

You have to provide something that will beat the competition, and the musical/band competition on MySpace is HUGE. As mentioned above, many high-profile celebrity artists have a MySpace Band profile, and they have no trouble dominating THEIR own unique niche (each artist produces different music of different quality).

I am not trying to say your MP3s or your album is garbage, I am just trying to explain the type of competition you are up against. All I can say is keep trying, and one of the best things you can do is target your friends/users more precisely, if you aren't already doing so. Targeting is key in any niche, but definitely in a niche that is predominated.

I hope this information helped! Good luck man!

Okay, for those of you marketing off of your home PC, are you not afraid of any legal charges that might come to surface? I'm primarily talking about MySpace and FaceBook marketing.

I understand you need to be doing a considerable amount of volume to get their attention, but there is always the possibility of legal action and I was just wondering what you guys thought about this issue. I'm not trying to scare anyone, I just want your opinions.

    Thanks!

No I am not afraid of legal charges, because to have that issue you would have to do something illegal :) and volume is needed always but you need to learn how to get volume without triggering bells. I have had my myspace account for over 2 years I have 1 personal and 2 business, and I have 5 facebook accounts one is personal the rest are business.

Cool, thanks for your reply bro.

MySpace and FaceBook each won settlements via the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, but I think it was because the defendants were phishing accounts, among other highly illegal tactics, not sure. You can find out for yourselves by reading the following articles...
