Three arrested in Toilet paper scam

How on earth did they convince an elderly person to buy 70 years worth of ANYTHING?

I mean, could you imagine if someone tried to sell you 200 years worth of soap? Yes, it's something you need, but who in their right mind would buy such a large supply of something that you could only possibly get through half of it before you keel over?

you missunderstood, they "last" 70 years in the septic tank, thats the catch.

That doesn't make any sense, why would they want people to think the toilet paper lasts 70 years in their tank, that would be a bad thing, would it not?

Anyway, I believe they're speaking in terms of quantity. This article words it a bit more clearly:

"Federal prosecutors in Florida say at least three people working for a septic tank company duped customers into buying about $1 million in unnecessary products — in some cases enough toilet paper to last more than 70 years."

Funny, but as they say - survival of the fittest. I can't imagine anyone would buy thousands of dollars worth of toilet paper, so there really is no excuse for the customers, no matter how elderly they are.
