    Hello guys,

I just came back few days ago from my trip to Amsterdam. I was really impressed by the way the people live their live there, but no only that. Except from the food (which was really bad in my opinion, but I can cook myself if I'll move there), everything was awesome. The people are extremly kind, and everybody is willing to help. I live in Romania, and I can't say that it's not good ATM, but the impression Amsterdam gave me, makes me really think about moving there.

I have no idea how to start, how to get a rent (because I've read that it's almost "impossible"), and things that come along.

I am not trying to move there in 1 or 2 months. I have to get my sh*t together first (money), and have a great passive income. The prices are VERY HIGH compared to the prices in my country. If I work hard enough, I make a decent amount of money every month, but I don't want to move there in this situation, so I'll have to wait until I (make that money passively/really want it, because nothing is impossible).

This are the main questions that I have, at this point:

    • Is it that hard to get a rent there ? What's the montly cost for a normal rent ?
    • What about taxes ? What's the % of your income ? I am just working online, not looking for a job.
    • I have a visa card, at the ING bank. ING has it's main location in Amsterdam. Can I use the same Romanian bank account or do I need to make a new one for Netherlands ?
    • My paypal got limited like 6 years ago, and I'm using a friends paypal. I'm also looking for a paypal alternative (that accepts paypal payments, since 98% of my clients are only/using it)
    • I not am trying to move there just for 6 months or 1 year, but I guess first I have to make some papers with their guvernment for 1 year or a specific period of time

Anything that could give me a better idea about this, will be appreciated.
If you were in my same situation before, please let me know how you did it, and what you did.

    Thanks in advance guys

Amsterdam is indeed a good city to live:

    • Is it that hard to get a rent there ? What's the montly cost for a normal rent
    >> Yes it is. Normal appartment € 1000 per month, for 2 persons. But you can try appartment sharing websites like kamernet.nl to find one room.

    • What about taxes ? What's the % of your income ? I am just working online, not looking for a job.
    >> Around 40% if you earn between 25 - 50k per year. If less than 30k per year, about 25%.

    • I have a visa card, at the ING bank. ING has it's main location in Amsterdam. Can I use the same Romanian bank account or do I need to make a new one for Netherlands ?
    >> Yes you'll have to get a new one.

    >> Paypal is the online payment method in Holland besides iDeal, which is a direct wire transfer system, but this is only popular inside Holland.

    • I not am trying to move there just for 6 months or 1 year, but I guess first I have to make some papers with their guvernment for 1 year or a specific period of time
    >> Yup, I guess it's easier now than before, since the borders have opened up.

    Good luck!

What's your expertise by the way?

I loved it when I went to Amsterdam, but I think living there would get to me.

I think I would be dead within a month if I moved there haha.

Great city though...been there a few times.

I am in the same both. I want to move abroad so that's why I am trying really hard to get an income online.

    Hello again,
    Dont rush things up.
If you move in there then it wont be same as your trip.
And in my opinion Romania is one of the best place to live too and you are already living there.
But if you have to you sure do, but just dont rush into this.

Thanks for all the awesome info.
I usually create bots, but not only that. My plan would be to make some great softwares that people need, and sell them. If the softwares are what users want, I am sure that the passive income would be achieved, and I would be able to move there (hopefully).
Also, the taxes are pretty huge :D

I've read that you need a job (real job, not just online stuff). Do you think that working online might be a problem ? (I won't be hired and won't have any documents showing that I'm working).
