I read this article yesterday and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on Google removing keyword queries from Analytics if they are logged in.

    http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/27535/Google-to-Limit-Keyword-Search-Referral-Data-to-Marketers.aspx

This is a huge blow to 3rd party apps, but what is more interesting is how Google is essentially removing something that they have been pushing hard recently (integrated SEO in webmaster tools, etc.) This is an obvious push for more revenue which makes sense from Googles standpoint.

How do you think this will change the game?

I think this is an unusual move by Google. It is very strange. That is, if the user data will be encrypted, then what will happen with keywords (queries)?

It's bad for the searcher too. If site owners don't know what queries are bringing people to their sites then it will be much harder for them to meet the needs of the searcher.

Thats an excellent point. After all, aren't we trying to help generate content for what they are searching for?

If theу limit the uѕе оf the Keyword Tool tо advertisers, аll you wоuld hаvе to do іѕ open an AdWords account, which costs $5 and yоu cаn easily get $100 іn credit uѕіng а voucher. That іs cheap for the uѕе оf thе Keyword Tool. They hаve bееn providing morе information to advertisers whо аrе logged іnto thеir accounts for quіte а while, so theу сould easily cut off access to non-advertisers. If you do nоt hаvе a credit card оr cannоt open аn account, you maу be hosed.

If thеу eliminated thе Keyword Tool entirely, that wоuld be a seriоuѕ problem beсauѕе mаny of thе keyword analysis tools uѕе Google data. Plus I have nеver trusted WordTracker data due to the nature of theіr sources.
