Ok, this is an interesting question. I am a homebrewer, and really love beer. On my personal blog the other day, I saw an ad for a local brewery tour that I had never heard of. I was really interested in it - but I know clicking your own ads is verboten. The thing is, I couldn't tell anything about where the tour was actually organized, which really leaves me no option but to click the ad.

Has anyone ever been in a situation like this? What should you do? Email google?

I will just look at its url and type in the address bar, or will copy paste the url and press enter.

Email google? What for? you arent going to get a reply ever.

Even if somebody from Google did email you back, do you really think they are going to say it is ok to click your own ads? Really? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN...........

The only thing you could possibly do is have someone look at your account and decide to cancel it. Do not do it, you are just asking for trouble. If you click on your own ads and get caught you will lose your account, if they catch you thinking about clicking on your own ads you will lose your account. Just do not go there at all..........

URL is at the bottom of the ad. No need to click.
    NEVER CLICK
It's easy just to use the URL instead and type into another browser tag/session.

The thing is I don't see the URL anywhere, and that's the problem. The URL on mouseover is googleads.g.doubleclick.net, not the URL i'm trying to get to.

If you accidentally click on an ad and you're getting thousands of legit clicks a month on adsense I doubt it would be noticed. But if it's one or two clicks from you out of 5 or 10......you could have a serious problem. They log every IP address you use plus all kinds of other data like the web browser you use.

Mouse over the ad you want to check and RIGHT CLICK on the ad. Do NOT actually click the ad as you would on a link. Now, you will see an option to Copy link location. Once you have copied the link location to your clipboard, paste the code to your notepad. You will see a bunch of stuff but in that mess is the advertisers url.

Get the advertiser's url, paste it in your browser and check out the advertisers website...Without actually "clicking" the ad.
