So, I wanted opinions over here.

I have a site that sells followers and I revised all the prices a week back. Now, all of a sudden I get a payment from my site for an amount that no longer exists. Over here, I received $10. Now, on my site there is no such service offered for $10. It is either less or more. The payment details shows earlier description that I had on the site. But, I had changed the description as well as the price a week back. Now, I don't understand really how this is possible. Its not that the changes I made a week back did not take into effect. All the other payments I received matched the new prices that I have on the site. So, Any guesses how this happened?

My best guess is that the site is mobile friendly. So, for mobile version of the site it still shows the old price and on the web it shows the new price. I am confused.. Can this happen. Anyone can check on both mobile and web, plz pm me. Thks in advance...

It might also have been in the users cache, still seeing the old page.

I checked if it was a repeat customer or not, but it was not the case. Maybe, someone might have boomarked in the past but should paypal not given an error or something because those paypal buttons are long gone( more than a week back)

Refund the buyer and contact them telling of an error with their order processing and ask them to either explain their purchase so you can help them, or request they make another purchase. Or something similar. Don't make it sound like you screwed anything up.

I once had a paypal button image on a forum that I forgot about and I made a few sales and had absolutely no idea where it came from. Keep track of your point-of-sales and conversion, because it can get complicated fast if you're scaling up and not keeping tabs.

Remember: it is your business, you set the prices. Do not accept money that just appears or amounts you did not set. Not only is it shady, it also violates all sorts of ethics and trust.

I have no problem with the amt received because I can still honor the deal. As far as the deal is concerned, it has no issues. At the end of it, both buyer and seller (me) will be satisfied. But, the payment surprised me...I have no other site or anything else that relates from where I can get payment for the same amt. The amt of $10 and the description was there before the changes was made...

Also, I do not feel comfortable contacting the buyer for this. So, I thought I would take opinions over here. Thks for your time :)

Yeah he might have been checking out different prices on different sites before he bought anything (thats what i do, lol), and so he might have already been on your site without him buying anything. Then when he decided to buy your package he returned to your site but maybe it was in cache or if his ISP forces a transparent proxy it might have been in the ISP's proxy cache.

Did you explicitly delete the button in paypal itself ?

I don't know if thats possible, but the first thing that popped into my mind was:
Maybe the buyer ordered earlier but got a block from paypal... then the payment would have been in queue until he reactivates the account.

I didn't delete it but modified them to the new prices, and the descriptions were changed too and used it on my site and it is saved on my paypal saved buttons too. So, the new ones are there but the old ones are not there in the saved buttons too...

I haven't changed existing buttons before so no experience there, but i suspect you got a new HTML code for the buttons ?
So the "hosted_button_id" for the button probably changed. This would mean that the old ID still exists in the system and paypal can recognize it.
I suspect it was in cache somewhere. If you want me to check the mobile version pm me the link.
