Ya, so the title of this post wasn't the best but i'm a n00b so bear with me :p Anyways, say i'm posting on Craiglist.. How do I go about getting the user from craigslist to the affiliate's landing page with out the affiliate knowing the click came from craigslist. Is this where the double-meta refresh would come in handy, or is there an easier way? I would like to do some sort of direct link without a landing page.. I have a double-meta refresh script but i'm confused on how exactly I use it.. wouldn't the AM get suspicious if the referrer was blank? please help so i can start making money!

okay soo lets map this out.. its always easlier to learn with pictures..

say they're at craigslist and they click MYGREATOFFER.COM which takes them to mygreatoffer.com which then redirects twice to the affiliate offer.. now if the AM were to see the refer it would be mygreatoffer.com .. but if he went to the site, wouldnt it just refresh for him and he'd know wtf I was doing? Im kind of confused on how to present an LP to the user - yet a completely different page to the AM.

If you were to write a script in ASP to do it, it would be something like

    <%
    referer = request.servervariables("HTTP_Referer")
    If instr( referer , "craigstlist.com" ) > 1 Then referer = "affiliatesite.com"
    response.redirect referer
    else
    [Show your website]
    end if
    %>

That way, if they come straight from craigslist, they are sent straight to your affiliate website, but if your AM comes looking at your website, he'll just get the Whitehat version.

Never done it myself, but i dont see any reason why the code above wont work.

You can redirect based on where traffic came from. You'd want to set it up whereby if traffic gets redirected only if it came from your scam site / offer.

There are scripts in about every common language that can accomplish this, but keep it server side (eg php)

    Try google or dynamicdrive.com

Thought I would chime in and try and help.

Yes, double meta refresh is what your after. You want to hide your original traffic source. I know of one url shortening service that will do the trick for you, so you can direct link and not have to worry that your original traffic source was revealed.

    Use Newurl.name.

They will shorten your affiliate link, and do a double meta refresh. No scripts to install, and you can direct link.

Or, if you want to double your protection, do this.

Use Newurl.name to shorten your url, then signup for tr.im's url service, which is has stats you can use to see where your traffic is coming from. This way you can create a link to your new newurl.name url, which you then take that url and place into tr.im, which will give you another shortened url to use, plus it will track everything for you so you can see that your original traffic source is not being revealed. And all of this without installing one line of code.

    Enjoy:chef2:

I've done the double-meta refresh but basically what im doing right now is sending the link via email http://link.com/index.php .. when they go there it redirects twice to the affiliate link. How do I incorporate a blog or a whitehat site that will show up as the referral of the site? I'd like to send junk traffic to this blog/site as well to help lower my conversion ratio.
