That's just it. I thought there was a system like google map domination but I heard that is outdated due to the new map structure. How can the same guy be #1 on 10 similiar search phrases without a system? I do know he has a SEO guy on payroll...

    Wow Bigbuddy!

I never thought about google not accepting a link to their own maps...

What frequency of a Sccrapebox Blast would you use?

    100?
    1000?
    10000?

For Google Maps, there are a few tips that help.

    1. your page must be as complete at possible. That means 5 images, 3 videos, hours of operation, etc.

    2. Your location matters. Google tries to deliver local results. If your physical address is near the IP address of the searcher it matters. Anyone using a proxy or searching from outside your area sees different results than you do. There also is a slight ranking bias towards businesses located near the geo-center of the city, less now than 6 month ago, but it still matters a bit)

    3. having multiple businesses at the same address hurts you. If you run multi sites or businesses from 1 location, add a suite number to each of them. ie. Suite #101 The same goes for duplicate phone numbers (you can add extensions so they appear differnent)

    4. Having your address attached to your business on other sites matters. Yellowpages, canpages, directories, trade publications, etc. The more places your domain is attached to your address around the internet the better. If the only place they are attached is on the google listing, you will have trouble getting to #1

    5. Links - the backbone of every google product listing is links. Ideally, 3rd party one way relevant anchor text links from sites NOT hosted on your same server.

Also, if you think Google places is tough wait for Google HotPot. It just launched and I have spent the last week dissecting it and working on building the most effective ranking strategy for it.
