I try to stay away from discussing any conspiracy theories or religious topics... but I had to share what I came across today - this really deserves all the attention it can get. Please take a few minutes, or at least read my brief summary... your thoughts on this?

    Here's the link - http://www.democracynow.org/2010/4/6/massacre_caught_on_tape_us_military

    Summary:

This is leaked (by wikileaks.org) US military footage from April 2007 in Iraq.

US helicopters are called in to check out an area because some "small fire arms" shots were heard bum fuck nowhere...

The helicopters come across a reuters journalist and some civilians enthusiastic to see a foreign journalist.

The pilots declare that this group is armed, and the reuters journalist is carrying an RPG (it's actually a camera, that looks nothing like an RPG!?)

The pilots ask permission to "engage".. aka... kill everyone, permission granted.

After the shooting, one wounded (reuters employee, journalist's driver) is seen crawling away... and a minivan pulls up to help the wounded.

Pilots request permission to "engage" some more, granted again... small children can be clearly seen in the van prior to shooting. Everyone is killed.

20 minutes later the pilots decide to shoot missiles into an appartment building near-by... killing families inside and bystanders.

You can clearly tell from the pilots tones / behaviour that this is just another day at the office... pathetic.

    Pentagon Reponse:

Investigation was completed, all pilots / soldiers involved are cleared of any wrong doing...

The report released to the media stated that the pilots were engaged in a fighting scene, and the journalist was a crossfire victim... as in it's his fault for getting into the fight.

Better yet, all dead victims were classified as "insurgents" and not civilians.

1 US military soldier was charged a couple days ago for leaking the video. That's it, no one else had any charges against them.

    My Conclusion:

US is even more corrupt and brainwashed than I thought it was... the pilots think it's a video game. Pentagon sees nothing wrong with it. US citizens still think US is fighting for freedom and hunting down "terrorists" in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is exposed to the whole world... governments... media... public... and all that happens is 1 person who leaked the video gets charged. This is beyond sad.

It's a war. Things like this are bound to happen, I don't see the big deal!

I saw that back when it first came out and read a bunch of reports about it. It reminded me a little of the My Lai massacure with Lt Calley... not a pretty scene at all.

Well really it is a big deal. It's really important for the powers in charge to do anything possible to prevent this kind of thing from happening.

But your right, in a war this type of thing will happen. It's good to be aware of it because all the 'free world' nations are built on the concept of peoples rights.

It isn't good though when this type of thing is used as a propaganda campaign to create further dissention in an already volatile situation. It's also important to remain aware that this same kind of thing happens on both sides in conflicts, and there is usually much more effort by the 'free world' nations to do what they can to prevent it.

This isn't a political forum so I don't really have anything more to say on the matter here.

Things bound to happen and doing things on purpose are two very different cases... this was not an accident or misunderstanding, it was carried out as a formal procedure, following orders, fully aware of what they're doing / who they are killing. Btw, the journalist just happened to be covering a story of US military abusing and torturing Iraqi civilians... what are the chances!

The big deal is that you didn't watch the video or read the report to understand that this is NOT an extra ordinary event ... it is literally a DAILY activity that happened to leak and go public.

Someone mentioned that this happens on both sides? Where did that come from... unless someone can point me to a source showing Iraqi helicopters killing civilians in Washington, I respectfully disagree with that statement.

This all is just plain wrong... and you'd think the people paying for it (US tax payers) would be concerned?

Dono why you even posted this.

This is obviously stating your side in the conflict. (not that I think that this is ok).
    No politics.

This doesn't belong to this forum.
