This made me think a little bit this morning. Is money everything?

    I work a lot, 16 hours a day when I'm counting but this actually made me think quite a bit;

SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"
DAD: "Yeah sure, what is it?"
SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?"
SON: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?"
DAD: "If you must know, I make $100 an hour."
SON: "Oh! (With his head down).
SON: "Daddy, may I please borrow $50?"
    The father was furious.
DAD: "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $ 50 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

    DAD: "Are you asleep, son?"

    SON: "No daddy, I'm awake".
DAD: "I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier. It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $50 you asked for."

The little boy sat straight up, smiling.
    SON: "Oh, thank you daddy!"
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

DAD: "Why do you want more money if you already have some?"

SON: "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do.

"Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $100 worth of your time with someone you love? If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family and friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.

    Some things are more important.

I have read this story before. Thanks for reminding me again.
Money isn't everything. There are somethings which are more valuable than money.
A couple of days ago, I read a newbies thread which went viral on this forum. Arguing between Money and Happiness. But, these things will not work here in a Black Hat forum. :(
    Great share. +rep :)

I have read this one before aswell.
Well my opinion is no, it's not everything, but really for me. I have stepped down from working 16 hours a day since i got married, not that she won't let me, as she supports me, but i didn't enjoy working in the end and still making the same profit.

I still catch myself work to 4-5AM after she sleeps, but hey, we are not entrepreneurs for no reason :)

    A very touching story.

If I'm the father, I would've cried infront of my child.

The most important thing in life is time. Money comes and goes... But time is limited and never comes back.
Don´t work for money, let the money work for you (passive income is the magic key)

I have read it before as well. Well, to be true, this has been discussed a lot and a lot of times here and the reality is that though money doesn't buys happiness, it does opens your door to happiness. But you do need to make to effort and know how to enter.

In short, keeping a balance between both of them is important. Your family is equally important or even more to you as money is hence you must never forget to spend your time with them but if you don't have money, you won't be able to spend quality time which is the reason why you need to earn money as well.

Anyways, this is a blackhat forum and I don't want people to stop earning money since while being on a blackhat forum, the main motive of everyone must be earning money. And though this is the lounge but it ain't a family issues problem so I won't talk about how to manage your family more.

That was a great story that really hits home. I used to work 16-20 hours a day, and a couple of times 36-48 hours straight. My wife was always arguing and saying I need to be home with the family, and I was always like "being home with the family don't pay the bills" or "Ok, I'll stay home with the family, and I can just tell the rent people that I don't have rent because I was home with the family".....

After losing my kids for almost a whole year, I have realized how important family time is.....

Thanks for the GREAT story bud. :)
