'We're About to Crash!' -- Jet Passengers Told by Mistake.
About 275 passengers flying high above the North Sea were told their plane was going down, but later learned the automated message was played by mistake, Reuters reported.
British Airways apologized for the error and quickly attempted to reassure passengers.
The flight was headed from London to Hong Kong Tuesday.
"I can't think of anything worse than being told your plane's about to crash," a passenger said of the incident.
According to Reuters, a spokesman for British Airways said an investigation was under way to figure out if the automated message played because of human error or a technical glitch.
"We apologize to passengers on board the flight for causing them undue distress," he said in a statement.
