    Google this mess:

    Code:
"The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday. Jason's passion and his work have"
^ Text from a random news story.

There is a high % of duplicate content a site can have, because if there wasn't, thousands of Google-approved news sites and blogs would get penalized.
If your site is 100% duplicate you'll get penalized of course. But dup content is underrated, I'm still ranking with it after Penguin, with pages 50-75% dup. Some sites did take a big hit however, but Penguin is so random.

HuffPo is a content farm. Drudge Report is a link farm. But people never think of the big guys as doing what BHers do.

And with poorly spun content, if you're not checking grammar, you're better off using dup content than something obviously auto generated and unreadable.

They treat news based sites and sites with press releases differently, they have said this many times and over the years I have seen this be very true.
