This is sickening. How can people do this to their dogs? (200+ found abandoned)

Before I start, I realize this is not for everybody and not all of you are as passionate as some of us are about helping animals out. If you're not, that's cool and you don't need to read any further. However, if you are and want to hear a disturbing story and possibly even help out, please keep reading.

Apparently people in the Everglades area of Florida are dumping their dogs right on the streets and leaving them to die from dehydration, starvation, being ran over by cars, and even being eaten by alligators, snakes, and other predators. I'm not sure why, but it's becoming a big problem as of recent. So far, over 200+ dogs have been found.

Here is a picture to show you just what's happening (Yes that's a dog that was ran over at high speeds by a car. This was once somebody's pet that they left to die):

There's a Facebook group that some people started to help the dogs out by taking donations, offering to foster, etc. You can check out the page here: http://www.facebook.com/ABANDONEDDOGSEVERGLADES (no I'm not affiliated with them in any way)

I have no idea how anyone can do this to their pets. If you have animals yourself, I'm sure this will really make you sick as well.

If any of you can, it would be great if you could donate to the fund. 100% of the money goes right to the dogs to help them get food, water, and pay their vet bills. I personally donated a full day's revenue to the fund just now. Not saying you all have to do the same, but even a few dollars will help.

Even if you can't donate, at least Like and Share the page so other people are aware of what's happening and could help out.

And if any of you are in the Florida area and could possibly foster some of the animals or know somebody that can, that would be great too.

I'm not trying to pitch anyone here and I hope it's cool that I'm posting this. I know there are a lot of people on this forum that have dogs of their own they love and may want to help out because it hits home to them, so I thought I'd post it to let you all know.

Below is a copy and paste of the news story I found:

Some people are really jerks, why not put them up to the same as they put their animals to.

Yeah I agree. Anyone who is caught doing something like this should have the same thing done to them. Let's see if they can survive without food or water with a bunch of alligators and big ass snakes around.

During the last winter someone in my town found a box whit kittens left in the park, the box was taped shut, so it was lucky someone found them otherwise they had been dead.

Why can´t people just leave their pets to someone else who could care more for them then the owners does instead of doing these kinds of things

I lost my 13 years old dog three months ago and cannot believe these people who left their dogs to die in such a way. This is really not done. I want these bastards to really get some high level of punishment.

Wow that's messed up. I'm glad someone found them though. And you're exactly right, it would be much easier for the owners to drop the kittens off at a shelter if they didn't want them. Why leave them to die in the cold?

That's something nobody should have to see and no dog or animal should have to go through. Wtf is wrong with people these days?

It really is disturbing that someone can do this to their animals. I have a cat now and I look at her as a member of the family, not just some thing that lives in my house. If it came down to it, I would sell everything I own before I would give her up.

I would love to see these assholes get punished either by law or some act of God, but until laws on animal cruelty become stricter, things like this will keep happening.

This is how fucked up our justice system is: You do more time in jail for stealing, selling drugs, or avoiding taxes, than you do for causing serious harm or even death to an animal. Animal cruelty lands people in about as much trouble as underage drinking does and that needs to change.

What the fuck. If you can't/don't want to support a dog, don't get one! Or at least give it to animal control. People like this disgust me.
