One of my sites was hit by Google updates and I'm thinking of totally re-structuring my site. Totally deleting all categories and tags then re-making them, re-doing all page names and perma-linking structures, etc. Has anyone ever done this, and what was the out come from doing it? Would you recommend I do something like this? Do you think this may be a good case study if no one has done this yet? Looking for valuable information from people so please post your thoughts.
Now either no one has thought about doing this, or people have done it and it worked wonders on bringing a site back from the dead, and they want to try to keep this method a secrete, or it did nothing. Hmmmm, I'm going to see what happens with my site over the next couple weeks to see if what I'm trying now works, if it don't, I will create a Case Study on this method of totally re-structuring my site too see how it changes anything in rankings.
I'll be honest, I've never done it myself but I would be very interested to see your own case study. As best I can tell, now is the time to do a total restructure as it's not going to lose you anything in terms of Google - in fact, you should get the bounce from re-submitting as well as the purse SEO boost. So while I can't give much advice I would say that the idea is sound.
I think I'm going to move forward with this idea and do a case study using this site of mine. I have a few questions though, I'm sure someone will help me with these. What section would I put it in? To make this a good case study, what information do I show everyone?
