Ok so i just need some tips from you guys, and i wasnt sure where to put this so, i just put it in the lounge.

So i need to know whether i should buy aLeased License or an Owned License.

The thing is, im not sure that the forum will get enough members etc to actually be worth the $80. And if it fails then i will save some money buy getting leased? However if the forum becomes pretty popular with some regular active members, and im making a bit of revenue, then i can go and buy the owned licence.

    What do you think?

Oh and how would i go about making money from the forum apart from adsense?

Yeah i know how amazing it is, its just that the $100 could be spent on something a lot better, but if i know for sure its worth it then im going to do it.

I'd suggest you take a look into the Simple Machines Forum script, before spending that $100.

It's really easy to setup (almost as simple as installing wordpress) and has a lot of themes and plugins. It took me just around an hour to get a forum running properly. The best part is that it's completely free.

It is pretty user friendly and actually I feel it is easier to use a SMF forum than a vBulletin one.

Here is the site's link http://simplemachines.org

VB is definitely well worth the money. Go for an owned license and sell it on if you won't be using it any more.

You could just run a nulled version of the script for a bit, if you think it's worth buying, then buy it and just swap over, if you think your forum is failling and dies, you haven't lost any money. Nulled software is alike stolen cars, nobody knows they are stolen until somebody reports them. :)

I would start the forum out on one of the many free platforms out there. Here are a few worth checking out:

    SMF:
    Code:
    www.simplemachines.org/
    phpBB3:
    Code:
    www.phpbb.com/
    Vanilla Forum:
    Code:
    vanillaforums.org/

    YetAnotherForum:
    Code:
    www.yetanotherforum.net/

You will be fine starting with any of those really. I like SMF a lot because of the availability of addons and themes, but each to their own. If the forum starts to roll towards something large scale then go purchase a license for vBulletin.
