Ok, some new network I applied to around one month ago, approved and I started to do little blackhat with one of their offers.

I water down conversion rates and fake the referral. I protect my a@@ really well.

I got ONLY a few leads to their offer.

Then few days later they deactivated my account. When I contacted them via aim, my AM said that they tried reaching me via phone but got the voice mail. So they had to deactivate my account as they want to make sure I am human!

I told him he only called one time and that we got a lot of bad phone calls lately...etc. [we are supposedly a company]. He said no prob, he'll reactivate my account later on.

Then he backs out and tells me his boss wants to have a word with me regarding our quality score. So he got me on the phone with his very strict boss. He asked many questions and I can tell he is clever and sensed that I am actually a person and not a company.

Then he told me they have a reputation to protect and that I need to raise the quality of my leads. I supposedly used paid reviews to drive traffic to that offer. He said the few leads I've sent him all used pre-paid debit cards that don't allow re-billing by the merchant. [damn! never thought of that!].

Then he asked how am I going to promote the next offers... I told him via ppc, maybe contextually later or if allowed by using video marketing and youtube. He said I have to contact them later when I want to do video marketing as they have some pointers.

Then he said he'll only let me in for now if I will stick to ppc for now. BUT he will need a copy of my driver's license. Told him I'm afraid of identity theft, and he said no prob... I can blank out the number....

Any advice guys? Shall I give him a copy of the driver's license? I really don't wanna do that.

do they have good offers? you've probably already givin them your ss#, full name, addy, all that... if not, and they are located in the usa you'll probably have to fill out a w-9 too... but i mean its up to you... if you feel its a good network, then yea i would... if you dont, the shrug it off... theres 324809234809234809234809234 other companys you can advert for ;)

    nope.. not them.

I haven't given them the SSN#, but the EIN in my application to them.

Why do you think they are now asking for a copy of the driver's license, since they already have all the info they need to, maybe, sue my a@@ in future if I continue blackhat?

I asked him why he needs it, and he said it is within their policies...etc.

Well it depends on what network it is I guess, for some networks this is normal, but if they only want a copy of your drivers licence because you're sending shit leads it does make you wonder...
Is it COPEAC by any chance?

not copeac. They told me it is within their policies but I don't see any of that info on their site.

Their policy page doesn't state getting drivers' licenses. So I guess it is an exceptional case because of "shit leads". Should've told them I don't drive ;)

ask them where in their policy is says you need to give your drivers license number, have them send you the policy and show you where it says, and put is side by side by their actual policy to ensure they're not just adding it to the one they send you.

Did you make a lot of money with them that you need to cash out?

I'd say its not worth your trouble unless otherwise..

Hm.. well do a cost/benefit analysis.

    Benefits:
A few hundred $ is definitely worth fighting for (i.e., if they will pay you after all this settled).

    Costs:
Submitting a driver's license. Possible scam by the company (?).

In this case, it's worth the few hundy..

    Here is the thing.....

You say you are a company....companies don't HAVE drivers licenses. YOU are an EMPLOYEE of a company.

Imagine if you told the cashier at the store you needed her license to do business.

Your personal license has NOTHING to do with the company. You work for a legal business with an EIN from the IRS for crying out loud!

Tell this guy to stick it up his ass....he has your company documents...you are obviously human because he is talking to you..."Thanks but no thanks I will take my rather large budget somewhere else. Goodbye."

    Next...if you really want in that network...form a new corp...get a new EIN....and apply.

I believe the CPA network that OP applied to is vCommission. I also joined the network few weeks ago but haven't had a chance to try out their offers and service.

    Code:
    http://www.vcommission.com

Put the ball back in his court asking to see a copy of their data protection policy or safe storage techniques, who will handle this sensitive information, etc.

I have aggressively pushed back in the past and they have always settled for a simple utility bill.

I would never send a copy of my *personal* drivers license to a network. They have the EIN and a W-9 on file.
