Which ones work best? I don't like using the same templates hundreds of thousands of other people are using, so which one would you suggest?

They're no good for CPA, only PPC right? Planning to use it for my future Adsense sites, but what are each's pros and cons? Looks pretty much the same to me - SEO optimized, easily customized, etc. Hopefully someone here can help clear this up for me.

Really depends on what you want them to do. They are basic frameworks, so straight out of the box, both are pretty bland, but they can be customised greatly depending on the look and feel that you are trying to achieve for your site. For example, Genesis Child Themes have good designs for a variety of industries and Thesis Skins are much more business and marketing focused.

They're no good for CPA, only PPC right?
They can be used for either, but mainly used for content sites, eg with lots of pages. But if you just want a simple landing page, they may be a bit much.

Pretty much the same in terms of SEO, though I have seen some who prefer Thesis, as it has more SEO options.

    Good luck.

Is there a thesis skin that will let us display the categories as sticky(homepage)?

I've built a number of sites using each theme and in terms of loading speed and clean coding they are both nearly equal. If you're going to purchase a child theme, or skin, for them then customization isn't really an issue to even worry about. If you plan on making changes yourself here's my thoughts.

Thesis has a few built in controls for easy customization of very minor parts of the look, like background colors, site/column width, header, etc. It's about enough to go from a very simple site to a very simple site with a header and different background without doing any coding.

Genesis only has these types of controls if you use the Prose child theme with it. You'll have to modify the code for any customization otherwise. For example, with the standard Genesis framework H1-H6 are all the same font size. If you're going to change a lot anyway it's no big deal but otherwise that can be a pain.

That being said Genesis is much easier to customize than Thesis is if you don't mind a little coding. (Hint create a basic child theme of your own with standard font sizes, etc. to save time)

The support forums of these two are very different and I think this is the most important part.

With Thesis if you run into trouble and ask for help you'll normally get snide "you're dumb and should hire one of us pros to do it for you" type of answers from staff members or you'll wait a while until another user helps you out. It's also organized poorly so you'll find the same questions over and over and most will be very different. A lot will only apply to earlier versions so won't work for you as well. I've even noticed this problem with thier own tutorials.

Genesis is almost the exact opposite. Few holier than thou, rude answers (although you'll run into one or two, SoZo for example is occasionally the only intelligent person on the planet) and MUCH better organization. Staff, and the occasional user, will answer your questions pretty quickly. Once a question is answered it's closed so one thread = one question+one answer. That makes searches so much more productive. I haven't run into any solutions that don't work across all versions yet either. They also have a very good developers' section to help you out.

Both themes can be made to do pretty much anything you need if you already know how to customize Wordpress. I think Thesis has a better basic look to it out of the box and Genesis is more made to be heavily customized every time or to have a purchased child theme added. Thesis has also been around a great deal longer and it just plain feels a bit more solid to me. But the Thesis support does suck.

If you ever build sites for clients you'll also be required to pay Thesis $40 each time for a client license while Genesis does not require this.

I'd say go with Thesis, or Genesis+Prose, if you want a really simple looking content site. If you're planning to do heavy customization I think Genesis will probably be your best bet. Of course if you're a WP expert who won't run into any trouble except on rare occasions then you could just flip a coin.

If you're using hundreds of thousands of templates, and your goal is to hide the fact your websites are somehow connected because they use the same template ... use artisteer 3. It generates awesome looking, easily modifiable and completely unique wordpress templates.
