I promote a product for a fairly 'reputable' companys in house affiliate network, I was making decent money until they decided to make a site and get it to #1 in google to save paying my commission.

Anyway, i know that happens all the time and i can live with it, but the site that they made has 0 backlinks, 0 pr and its quite new. The content of this sites landing page is duplicate content from their main site, linking directly to the same product i promote.

Ive a good mind to try and sandbox them (especially since they aint paid my latest cheque) but i guess i have to work on my site a bit more.

Any clues on why this site is beating my unique content, with 700 back links on a mature domain name? ...It goes against everything i know about SEO.

I have seen this many times, and still don't understand how they do it. Anyone care to share?

its a fucking mystery to me anyway, i have watched their domain rise up the ranks in google over the last 6 weeks. Ive just been google danced down to #5 (my lowest position for a very long time) ...and they have gone to #1, so as well as my affiliate commission going to hell my adsense will take a twatting too... pissed off doesnt even cover how i feel now... google seems to hate blogs lately whilst landing pages seem to be in favour - i dont get the logic? how does a 100% pure advert and duplicate content benefit the google users better than a unique blog? smells like bullshit to me.
so much for going white hat, guess im back to blackhatting CPA, pays better anyway...
    sorry for sounding bitter

You can try a nasty letter threatening them with copyright and trade secret infringements. Their lawyers might tell them to avoid trouble by throwing a few bucks your way.
